Hero pastor with a gun

I see many what if situations, but an unwillingness to take the cross and follow Jesus. You cannot take the sword and follow Jesus. You must take the cross. The Pastor decided against following Jesus when he bought a weapon designed specifically for killing people. And you are committing yourself to the same by praising his actions.

 

Well, I disagree with much of what you have said.

Buying a handgun doesn't mean you have decided not to follow Jesus, and my disagreement with you doesnt mean I'm choosing to not follow Jesus.

I do respect your opinion on this and many other issues, but linking my commitment to Christ to agreeing with you is...... well it's just inappropriate.

A handgun is not designed to kill people. A handgun is designed to expel a bullet at high volicity. People decide how to use it. This pastor used it to save lives. Hero

 

So all of those who died upholding Christ's command not to return evil for evil did so in vain? If you take the sword, you follow a different Jesus than those who take the cross.

Actually, the Hebrew word used means to murder, as God Himself ordered the Israelites to kill in times of war, correct?

 

God ordered the Jews to kill in the OT, and God stated that there is indeed justifiable killing permitted, but not outright murder.

 

God permits justifiable killing, see the OT, but He always saw Murder as being a capital Crime.

 

God Himself see the case for justifiable killing, but not for murder!

 

The gun was not made for express purpose to kill, as guns are neutral, they do what the user has them to do!
So a soldier in our military, under fire by Islamic terrorists, who want to capture and chop his head off, cannot use self defense?

 

This reminds me of Clinton saying he smoked marijuana but did not inhale......

Should police and the militray be allowed to have guns, or do you advocate just blowing on whistles and yelling stop?

 

God ordained them, not us, to bear the sword.

There are NO scriptures that state I cannot own a gun to hunt with, or todefend my family with!

If you plan on using a gun on another human being, you already told Christ you are not taking the cross, but the sword instead.

 

I am using the weapon God provided for me to have in order to protect my family and others!
