I would have to research the sales positions, but I would have to believe that some of the NASB's recent drop in the standings is due to their announcement of an update.

Oh, that's a good point (which I really hadn't taken into consideration.)

I was thinking that the decline in sales precipitated the decision to update the NASB.

But I suppose you're right: the announcement by the Lockman Foundation that an update was forthcoming may very well have led to the declining sales numbers pertaining to the existing NASB 95 edition.

Or perhaps, those two factors combined led to the dropoff in sales of the NASB.

In any case, I thank you for bringing that to light!

Some of the leaks though seem to be supporting gender inclusive renderings, didn;t they learn anything from 2011 Niv revision issues?

Yes, they learned that if you wish to stay relevant, you'd better be gender inclusive.

I think the Lockman Foundation has actually been quite judicious in waiting a good twenty-five years before choosing to publish/release another updated edition of the NASB!

I'm curious: which Bible translation did you use prior to making the switch to the ESV?

Such as when the Niv 2011 no ;longer sees Jesus as being the Son of Man?

You mean if you want to be seen as being PC correct, to agree with those who seek to eliminate any male Headship in scriptures!

If you don't like the NIV 2011, use what you like.

I was just responding to your point that you are perfectly fine with the 2011 revision... I just prefer the older 1984 edition...

I'm just glad they've decided to continue publishing the 95
    NASB, alongside the updated edition!

The NIV 2011 refers to Jesus as the Son of Man dozens of times.

I'll really be interested to see how the critics and public react to the updated NASB, once it's released in its final (for now) form!

I am sure it will get raked over the coals. They are replacing one of the most respected English translations ever. Even if it is a good product, it won't get the respect of it's predecessor.

A close parallel may be the NJKV and KJV. I believe the NKJV to be the better product, but the NKJV still lives in the shadow of the famed KJV.
