    I agree.

There is a difference between knowledge (even the acceptance of knowledge) and spiritual truth. I think he equates spiritual truth as merely believing Scripture. I do not know this to be true, but that is the impression I get.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

How did those without Scripture know about Jesus? How did Paul witness to the pagans at the Acropolis?

Scripture, of course, is important. But we have to be careful not to elevate knowledge of God above God Himself.

If there was no Scripture and if the only people ever saved was those who encountered Christ, and those who encountered the prophets in person then God would still be the greatest Gift.

What is being suggested by Iconoclast is philosophy (fundamental knowledge, how can we know), and it is vain philosophy. What does the Bible say is the greatest? Verses have been provided.

    Ewf,
1 people cannot answer an interact with the questions that are being asked in the threads this is the result just objections with no intentional purpose just objecting without thinking through the issues that's the way it seems to me so you can read and enjoy read the objections and read the answers and
And how do you know there is a holy spirit? How do you know there is a gospel?

You are assuming here that God can ONLY reveal this thru the scriptures, but could he have not chosen another way to communicate to us? wait he did, as Hebrews puts it, he spoke to us before, but now his ultimate speaking is in the person Jesus Christ!

I think that he has something in mind here, as he does not literally hold the Bible superior to Jesus Christ in worth!

The disconnect is on your end my friend. If a man just showed up without any Scripture and any teaching the Old Testament if a man just showed up and said oh by the way I'm the Son of God and let me tell you about God the father and people didn't know why he was making these claims or what he was purposing to do it would make no sense

Before I was saved I was a lapsed Catholic who read the family bible, and heard the gospel presented each week at catechism classes and in church readings. It never connected... I was not a believer, though I thought I was. Not until I heard the Method of Grace sermon by George Whitfield and that I will claim brought me out of my false belief that I was a Christian. That my dear brethren was the greatest gift and it was of the Holy Spirit.

I never throw in the towel when I'm right. You have not really answered any of the questions that are being asked so you might not be the best judge of who needs to throw in the towel
