Did God make angels to be creative beings, as He did humans?

Why do you say that He did not make them to be creative?

"Creative" - "1. Having the ability or power to create things . . . 3. Characterized by originality or expressiveness; imaginative." American Heritage Dictionary, 311

"Create" - "To cause to exist; bring into being; originate. 2. To give rise to; bring about; produce." AHD, 311

Angels are part of the Creation by God, and have "free wills" like us humans, as is seen by the rebellion of the devil and those who were with him. Jesus Christ came to save only the fallen human race, and not Angels.

Yes, the rebellion of the devil and his angels shows that they have "'free wills' like us humans." Does that mean that you believe that God made angels to be creative beings?

True, God is the only One who can create from nothing. Neither angelic beings nor human beings have that kind of creative ability, but that does not mean that they are not creative in other ways.

What evidence is there in scripture?

Angels... sing (but do they write the songs) they kill or guard things (at the command of God) they deliver messages....

I really don’t see angels as being creative in the sense that humans write music, paint pictures or any other endeavor.

    peace to you

I am wanting to explore at length in this thread what Scripture reveals about the creative abilities of angelic beings.

Some strongly dispute that angels sing, but I believe that the Scripture teaches that they do.

Regardless, we know with certainty that some angelic beings do play certain musical instruments:

Revelation 5:8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

Revelation 8:6 And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound. 7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

Unless you believe that they do so as mere automatons, their doing so would seem to show that they have musical creative abilities.

As the are "created" by God, they are not God, Who alone is The Creator. There is no Biblical evidence to even suggest that any of the Heavenly Hosts, are able to "create".

Spiders make webs. Birds build nests. Beavers build dams. Bees build hives. Ants build colonies.

What animals design and build from the designs as man does? We are only told that man was made in God's image. I am persuaded that this ability is what is ment to be made in God's image.

You are thinking of "create," in the ultimate sense, which is true only of God.

Do you hold that there are no created beings who are creative in the lesser sense of producing things that are original and were not made directly by God? If so, your position is not a biblical one.

I know what this is about, but to me this is nothing more than speculative, and therefore quite pointless! As I have said, there is no evidence in the Bible of any of the Heavenly Hosts being "creative", so why discuss this?

Because their is evidence in Scripture that there are things, etc that angelic beings have originated that are neither of divine origin nor of human origin. Probing what those things are is important so that we have a right understanding of what Scripture reveals and live our lives accordingly.

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

The devil did not learn how to lie from either God or from humans. He is the father of lying.

He did not get the content of the lie(s) that he spoke in the garden to Eve from either God or humans.

Lying is a corruption, not a creation. Evil is not created.
