Did Jesus have Mary’s DNA?

Usually, I think, the man provided the “seed” for the baby.
Yes, that view was based on ignorance of how conception worked. The ancients (and not so ancients) could see the male contribution to the birth of a child, but made the assumption that the woman simply bore the "fertile soil" for the seed to grow.

That's why "her seed" was so unusual.

Regardless, “seed” means descendent. Jesus was born of Mary, He is her descendent.
Yes, a physical descendent.

. . . without genealogy, . . .
No genealogy is given. May not mean no human decent at all. Nevertheless the argument is made based on the absence of a given genealogy to be "made like unto the Son of God." And so some like John R. Rice believed Melchisedec to be the pre-incarnate Christ.

You never answered, that I saw, exactly why Jesus can’t provide redemption, or resurrection, or peace with God unless He has Mary’s DNA?

If God formed Jesus completely separate from Mary’s DNA, still fully human as Adam (though He began as a fertilized egg), He would still fulfill all prophecy of being descendent of David through Joseph and being born of a woman.

I don’t believe the “celestial flesh” theory. He is fully human as we are.

So how exactly is the gospel compromised with God forming the humanity of Jesus without Mary’s DNA?

I’ve heard that too. Scripture clearly stated He was greater than Abraham.

The Scripture said of God of Himself, Hebrews 6:13, ". . . For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, . . ."
Or Jesus' critics questioning Jesus being greater than Abraham, in John 8:53, . . . "Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? . . ."

EXCEPT, Jesus did not come into the world as the 1st Adam. The 1st Adam was NOT born of a woman, but the 2nd Adam was born of HER SEED.

God could have made Jesus like Melchizedek, a mysterious person "without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life" (Hebrews 7:3), who walks into town like a hero in an old Western, which was actually a common expectation of the coming Messiah.

Frankly, that would have saved Jesus the credibility problems (Mark 6:3; Luke 4:22; John 8:30-42, 48) He faced throughout His ministry.
Where do you see Mary's egg?

Mary would conceive in her womb, as the angel said. Where is her egg used?
Certainly God could nullify Mary's sinful corrupt condition and create from her egg a male child to be called Yeshua. Did God need her egg to create Yeshua as a human? No. With God, nothing is impossible.

Luke 1:30-35,37 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God. For nothing will be impossible with God.”

That is the point of this question. If people are born sinners during the normal reproductive process, God could have formed Jesus without Mary’s DNA, He would not have corrupted humanity. He is still fully human, as Adam was.

Scripture never says we are born sinners is my point. We are born in sin not born a sinner.

I’m sure you see a difference between being born “in sin” and being a sinner. The author of that statement would not make such a distinction.

How is it that you would know. Is that some kind of mystical Gnosticism. It sure isn't scripture. We were born in sin if we were born sinners the Bible would say so and it doesn't

Saying a person is born in sin is the same thing as saying they are born sinners.

We can disagree.

In your opinion which doesn't make what you say true. Your just upset because you have no proof man is a born sinner.

Not upset at all. I believe what scripture says, you are trying to explain away what is taught.

Now I remember why I avoid responding to what you post. Thanks for the conversation.

What proof do you have that man is not born a sinner? Romans 5:12, ". . . Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: . . ."

Why assume what you believe? God's word never says man is a born sinner when he is born. Why should you?. Can you prove man is a born sinner? I do not believe you can.

Romans 5:12 says death is what was passed on to man not sin. Mans only sins are those that he commits so when have you seen a baby being born and sinning at the same time. Can a baby sin before birth if so prove it.

Are we descendants of Adam and Eve? Did God lie warning Adam? Genesis 2:17. Did Eve get it wrong about what God told both her and Adam? Genesis 3:3. I believe the account.

It clearly does not say babies sinned before they were born. We do not inherit the sins of our father or mother the Bible says so

Indeed, we are judged on our radical corruption, which is at conception. Our sickness is enough. God doesn't punish us for our ancestors sin.
MB, it seems you love a verse in Ezekiel, but you openly ignore Romans 5.

Yes, not clearly. But it does. Did God not make man very good? How did Adam's disobedience cause all of mankind to be sinful? What had God's knowledge to do with it? Genesis 3:22?
