The US is a mess. But so are other countries. Heck, look at those idiots in the UK going all Mad Max stabbing each other (and last year they had a mass shooting with 6 dead).

    The problem is the world.

Is it moral to let your family be massacred due to the fact that the felon who broke into your home has a firearm even though the law tells him that he can't?

I will answer with a question. Is God able to fully protect His own children? What about the millions around the world, who don't have any firearms, to protect their families? They US has made a culture that is GUNG HO, where some rather foolish, probably ungodly men, made the "constitution" to inculde the "right to arms"!

Here is one for those who are pro firearms as a "right"

Can you find in the Beatitudes, where Jesus says, "blessed are those who bear arms"?

Or, does Not the Lord Almighty Himself say, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God."?

Trusting in God to protect myself and my family doesn't mean that I take a que sera sera attitude. Godly wisdom is neither complacent, nor sitting around fearful of what all could happen. Rather, it plans for what can happen, and takes steps to prepare for that, and it trusts God to deliver/protect us.
Do you call the police at all? If so you are not "trusting" in God to deliver yourself or the individual involved. Have you ever gone to the grocery store? If so you weren't trusting in God to supply your needs.

    Did the Levites carry weapons?

Here's why I ask (perhaps it is its own thread).

In 1 Peter 2, we see Peter tell us that we are a Royal priesthood to chosen by God. The Levites were the tribe chosen by God to represent the firstborn. Jesus is the firstborn and we, as priests represent God as the firstborn.

Did the Levites carry weapons to fight in battles, or were they separate unto the Lord for priestly duties rather than protective duties? If so, can we as priests of God justify carrying weapons?

No, as Jesus' comment in Luke was likely in reference to possible robbers attacking the disciples, while His comment in Matthew came because it was the Father's will that Jesus be taken by the mob, making armed defense inappropriate. Two different scenarios, two different commands, no contradiction.

Everyone needs to have weapons for their defense, the defense of their family's, defense of their neighbors and defense of their country. Even in the defense of other countries. All tribes and all people carried weapons. King David and his men carried weapons. The aborigines of Australia carried weapons. Indians carried weapons. Ancient peoples all over this world carried weapons .

A baseball Bat makes a good weapon
and so does a sharp kitchen knife. Those in the past who were denied weapons were slaves. When Rome conquered Britain they denied the British tribes to own weapons. When the Romans left the early British people had to fend for themselves and lost most of their land to the Angles, Saxons and Jutes. Of course everyone knows how hitler disarmed Germany. They passed a law giving the death penalty to whoever had firearms. No two weeks to turn them in or else. Everyone of course came in and threw their rifles in to piles so large they were bigger than the piled up buffalo bones in the United States. That did not work out well for the whole World.

Look at the Australians now. They have to do what their goverment says, no matter the percentage that disagrees with them, because they are disarmed. They can do nothing. In the United States most gun laws were started by bigots. Bigots who did not like running into armed people when they expressed their bigotry. Most people in the United States don't even know that. When peoples arms are taken away it is to enslave them, not help them. I could go on and on but I don't want to bore you with the details.

Dude, if weapons did work, and there are millions owned by people in the US, then WHY is your gun crime and murders not coming down, but at the top of the Western world?

Guns encourage murder, like this, Three white men sentenced to life for the murder of Ahmaud Arbery

Unarmed black person murdered by whites, because he was black!

...and lies. Some may yet go to prison for it. John Durham hasn't gone away.

4 years ago now a young high school kid who was going to class but stoped at a 7/11 to get a snack when a guy stopped him and prospered to shoot the kids fingers off his hand then kill him. That kid was white and the murderer was black. Had I been there with a gun I’d had put a bullet in his chest.
