For my personal use, it's a combo of NIV, ESV, New King James, and sometimes the Holman.
I like biblehub.com for personal study....for mine it's ASV, YLT, and KJV, and sometimes biblehub.com.![]()
I just "love" it when someone says "My 8 year-old can understand the KJV - esp since the KJV is considered -overall - at least on a 12th grade levelOther - the KJV is a great translation. But the purpose was to give people (specifically the Church of England) a translation in the vernacular.
The KJV is not a good English translation - NOT because of the translation but because the English language has changed.
Finally! You have made a concise post.MAGNIFICENCE!
Children in the late 19th century didn't understand the language of the KJV. That's how the Twentieth Century New Testament came about -- final version published in 1904.I just "love" it when someone says "My 8 year-old can understand the KJV - esp since the KJV is considered -overall - at least on a 12th grade level
Where do you stand on the KJV
(If you think I should add another answer - let me know, and I will do so)
So you like the KJV because you’re comfortable with it.I like the KJV because I grew up with it as the primary Bible that was being preached and taught from. I do use other translations..but I'm KJV preferred.
I'm pretty comfortable with any of them...I've even used the "hippie" Bible...God can use anything that puts forth his message. So you like the KJV because you’re comfortable with it.
I switch versions frequently so I don’t get comfortable with it.

If you switch versions frequently, that's your decision, and I applaud you..at least you're staying "in the word!" Blessings.

Why dont you start it?Yeah some brethren on here seem to be a little wordy (okay a lot wordy)... Just a thought... Salty needs to start a forum on just sermons and he can transfer the wordy brethren there... Brother Glen![]()
