    1 Corinthians 4:15 KJVS
For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

    1 Corinthians 2:12-16 KJVS
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. [13] Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. [14] But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. [15] But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. [16] For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

This implied falsehood is proclaimed endlessly.

Who appointed those Gentiles? Does the context indicate God or Paul? Paul!!

Were they appointed unilaterally or by mutual consent? Mutual consent.

God chooses individual believers, not those to be individual believers.

Really? The Apostle Paul “appointed” people to eternal life?

The context indicates God, without doubt!!!!!!! Appointed people to eternal life!! No man has that authority or power.

What kind of twisted thinking has a man appointing people to eternal life? Why didn’t Paul appoint them all? Was Paul choosing who is saved or not? Utter nonsense!!!!

Your hatred of the doctrines of grace has clouded your reason.

    peace to you

Context is not something you make up, it must be found is the surrounding scripture. Verse 46 for example. :)

Again, the Greek word poorly translated "appointed" refers to a mutual agreement. Any witness of the gospel who provides direction to eternal life, i.e. everyone believing into Him shall not perish but have eternal life, can be said to provide the opportunity for eternal life.

Lastly your "utter nonsense" observation ignores the context of verse 46, where the Jew rejected the appointment to eternal life.

    Acts 13:46
Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first. Since you repudiate it and consider yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.

Here is the context of Acts 13:48, where Paul's audience does not agree to take his direction to eternal life, and as many as were not appointed, did not believe.

The whole book of Acts is a constant proclamation of the work of God Holy Spirit in establishing the early Church. Numerous references to God Holy Spirit in Acts determines the context to be that God appointed these people to eternal life and certainly not a man, even a Godly man like Paul.

The mangling of language to get to the “appointment by mutual agreement” nonsense has been repeatedly and thoroughly refuted by scripture and Biblical Greek scholarship.

    Peace to you

To deny the Greek word translated "appointed" refers to an arrangement by mutual consent is to deny reality.

The word appears about 8 times in scripture and in each case the arrangement is by, at least in part, mutual agreement.

Folks, note that not one of those claiming some expertise in Greek has pointed out to Canadyjd that the word does indeed refer to an arrangement by mutual consent.

    Obfuscation! LOL!

Your claim that Paul appointed people to external life is utter, non biblical man centered nonsense

…. and those that actually understand biblical Greek know it.

Once again, obfuscation claiming I made a claim I did not make. Note the lacfk of any quote. :)

Paul did give direction to eternal life, i.e everyone believing into Him shall not perish but have eternal life. The appointment with eternal life occurred when the Gentiles accepted the direction. Thus they took the direction and believed. This is not rocket science.

For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Thessalonians 5:9)

Most English Bible translations have : appoint, appointed, destine or destined.

The reprehensible translation of Acts 13:48 by the JWs has :
"...and all those who were rightly disposed for everlasting life became believers."

    LOL, obfuscation!

So, folks, the OP claims he didn’t say Paul appointed people to eternal life. Let’s take a look…
LOL! The OP has been caught making yet another false accusation. He clearly claims Paul appointed people to eternal life and also claims the context of the passage supports his claim.

Why does the OP not even know what he posted in his own thread?

It is impossible to have a conversation with someone who continuously denies what they have said.

Since the OP has been repeatedly and thoroughly rebuked with abundant scriptural evidence and sound Christian doctrine. I will bow out of the conversation.

    peace to you

No matter what Christ says, or the inspired by the Spirit of Christ text, some will alter it to conform to man-centered and man-made doctrine. Here an appointment by mutual consent is denied and everyone who reads a lexicon knows the very meaning of the text is being denied, not once or twice in error, but systemically for the purpose of presenting known falsehood.

When an appointment is made by mutual consent, the person making the arrangement is not exercising divine power, they are simply witnessing using the gospel of Christ. This poster claims that view is somehow a false accusation. Nonsense.

This is very true and I will show how the OP is altering the text to fit the man-centered and man made doctrine.

The OP looked in a Greek lexicon and found where the word “appointed” was used in Mathew 28:16 to refer to the disciples, after the resurrection, going to a mountain that that had been “appointed” by Jesus. In that context, the Greek Word used for “appointed” can mean (and likely does mean) by mutual consent.

The OP then applies that meaning to a different word (also translated appointed) in Acts 13:48 in an attempt to make “appointed” mean by mutual consent.

The reason no Greek scholar agrees with the OP is because a first year Greek student will recognize the error in what the OP is doing.

The OP has been repeatedly rebuked with abundant scripture, sound biblical Greek exegesis, and sound biblical doctrine.

Another attempt to slay Calvinism has failed miserably.

At some point most would be embarrassed to continue posting never ending threads that cannot be supported by scripture.

However, LOL, I’m sure it will continue.

    peace to you

A different word? Perhaps you mean a different grammatical form of the same word?

And does anyone thing "no Greek scholar" agrees with the premise the word as used in Acts 13:48 refers to an arrangement by mutual consent. Give me a break.

Once again obvious falsehoods have been used to obfuscate truth. They have to know what they are doing...

Like I said, a different word. The Greek forms change the meaning, in some cases substantially. If you ever had any formal Biblical Greek instruction you would understand that.

You will believe whatever supports your mission to be the person that finally disproves Calvinism.

I’m done for now. I do love you brother, but you have serious issues to deal with.

    peace to you
