True. And it really never has been.

But with the "border bill" we are talking about a $118 billion bill where only 17% goes to border security.

It really was not a border bill. It was a Ukraine bill with a small amount of that bill going to border security (Ukraine funding was the primary part of the bill, representing over 50% of the funding).

You are reminding me of how I sometimes feel watching an NFL game - a bunch of commercials with some football thrown in. :D

Yep. That was the "border bill". A little on border security but the primary funding going to other agendas.

Imagine watching a game and the game was 17%of the show. 51% of the show was I Love Lucy episodes. 33% of the show was bits and pieces of other stuff.

The show shouldn't be called the NFL game but I Love Lucy with a little game coverage and a lot of commercials.

Your math is off a tad.

    Probably. Just estimating.

The "border bill" was $118 billion. $20.23 billion went to border security. Over half went to Ukraine.

You consider that appropriate, that the bill should have been passed.

The problem is that even those who are not "conservative" but are concerned about the national debt should have noticed that this was not, in fact, a border bill.

It was a Ukraine bill with a small portion of funding attached to address the border.

We can't keep on increasing the national debt. We need more accountability.

That you actually consider the bill a "border bill" is kinda strange. Shouldn't a bill be identified by what it primarily addresses??

Tell that to the Republicans and the Democrats in the Congress, not me.

It's the voters that need to realize this.

You indicated that you believed a $118 billion border bill that spends $20.23 billion on the border should have been passed.

I realized it around 1990 and have been fussing about the national debt ever since.

We know you do not think that Trump should be President. So you believe Harris will do what you suggest above?

Everyone 'fusses' about things. What have you done about it other than 'fussing'?

No. I have recently posted my reason for supporting Kamala Harris for president in the "Harris vs Trump Presidential Debate" thread.

I ran for Congress in 2014. I recently watched, probably for the first time since 2014, the DVD of the televised state-wide debate that I participated in. And, I talked about pretty much the same things that I am talking about in 2024:

    1) I quoted Grover Cleveland on the subject of federal involvement in agriculture.

    2) I quoted James Madison on the subject of federal involvement in infrastructure.

    3) I quoted John Quincy Adams on U.S. foreign policy and foreign adventurism.

    4) I talked about the national debt, which has now doubled ten years later(if it doubles again in ten years, then it will be around $70 trillion).

    5) I talked about the need to dump the current fiat monetary system and replace it with a gold-standard monetary system.

    6) I closed by structuring the end of my closing statement by using a quote by William Jennings Bryan(who opposed the gold standard), except that I used it make my point in favor of a gold standard, and I said something along the lines of "The American people should not be crucified on a cross of fiat paper money."

I ran for Congress. I advocated for minarchist classical liberal libertarianism on statewide TV.

    What have you done?

So you will vote for her (which will include all of her policies). You were pretty hard on Trump's character. Any problems with Harris" character, her past and her past statements and positions?
