Questions About Predestination

You are describing human will, which is influenced by many factors.

When a person is confronted with several alternatives, they will chose the option they desire the most at that moment in time.

Can we agree on that?

Peace to you

Not necessarily. They may desire to run away from danger,eg a fire, but will run into the fire to save someone.

That is free will in action. Making a choice between different possible courses of action
And that is why when presenting the gospel message to a group some will choose to reject God and others will choose to trust in Him.

It is clearly taught. Your inability to comprehend, or more likely, willful rejection to what is clearly taught, doesn’t mean it’s not clearly taught.

Peace to you

Odd that for something supposedly clearly taught in scripture it had to be brought into the church from pagan philosophy in the 4th century.

Your DoG/TULIP stands in opposition to the word of God. The fact you cannot not see this is shocking.

Are you able to articulate what you mean by “free will” or not? Do you believe the human will is “free” from any influence, whether internal or external?

Peace to you

You know what we mean by "free will" you just want to argue as you always do.

Twisting and turning what's said is your game!

I do know what it means. Are you able to articulate what you believe “free will” means or not?

For something to be “free” there must be no interference.

I am free to dunk a basketball anytime I have the chance. I am limited by my natural ability to jump high enough. Gravity and natural ability interferes with my desires.

The human will is enslaved to sin according the Apostle Paul in Romans. Paul literally says we are enslaved by sin. Sin interferes with our desires.

Jesus says if we sin we are a slave to sin. If the Son sets you free you are free indeed.

Please just think about what you mean by “free will”. Don’t just fall into the rut of regurgitating “God doesn’t want robots” which doesn’t address the issue of what scripture actually teaches.

Peace to you

That is exactly the difference in our understanding of salvation. You think the difference in whether someone accepts or rejects the gospel is human “free will”.

I believe the difference is God.

Only God saves @canadyjd.
The difference between us is that you think you were so special that He picked you out prior to creation before you even believed and I choose to believe the bible when it tells us that when we hear the gospel message and believe it then God saves us.

God gave us a free will and that is why we are held responsible for the choices we make.

So the difference is calvinist determinism or biblical free will.

There you go assuming what I think. I don’t think I’m special. Never said I thought I was special. God choses the elect based on His will, the kind intention of His purpose to show mercy.

You, on the other hand, think you caught God’s attention by exercising your “free will” when so many others rejected God, and God was so impressed that you were able to overcome the world with your “free will” that He gave you salvation as a reward.

Your beliefs are works based salvation, though like so much other doctrine, you are blind to it.

And what’s all this “when we hear the gospel” and use our free will?

What happened to many are saved having never heard the gospel?

Your beliefs are so convoluted you can’t keep up with your own words.

Peace to you

I do not have to read your mind to see where your false theology leads @canadyjd. You think you were pick out prior to creation so you must assume there was something special about you or why would you be picked and not someone else. What was so special about you that He showed mercy to you and not others that were just as vile?

Now as for why I was saved, all we have to do is look in scripture to find that answer. Not because I was special or smarted but because I humbled myself and trusted in the one that could save me. As we see in Eph 2:8 by grace we are saved through faith.

You continue to error when you call faith a work and salvation some kind of reward. You really do make wild accusations against the word of God.

Those that hear the gospel message are responsible for the choice they make, whether to trust in or to reject God.

You ask what happens to those that never hear the gospel message and yet are saved by a merciful God? Well as I told you before read Heb 11 or study the OT of how many were saved through faith in God. Now even you have to admit that they could not have heard the of Jesus Christ's death burial and resurrection prior to it actually happening.

God even told us in Rom 1 that man is without excuse for not knowing Him but you continue to over look that.

It seems you are more concerned about supporting your DoG/TULIP than you are the word of God.

All done, I think.

Peace to you

I have pointed you back to the word of God a number of times but you still hold to the DoG/TULIP even when it is in disagreement with scripture.

I have also asked you to actually check out the foundations of your theological view, I doubt that you have as then you would have to rethink what you believe.

I do pray that God will open your eyes to the truth of His word.
