The KJV is all I understand

I thsink worship includes music, but we worship God in prayer, and in reading and hearing His word.

I agree that some modern hymns (thankfully not all) are repetitive, and the words don't have much depth of meaning.

I have never been in a church which has somebody called a worship leader.
David,
I refuse to refer to the music director as the "worship leader"
In fact when someone says so and so s the worship leader - I respond with - "Oh so he is the senior pastor?"

and by the way - EVERY part of the service is important -
That includes the offering, announcements, and as you mentioned prayer, Bible reading, ect!

When I sat and listened to a preacher preach from the KJV I always believed what they had to say. Now when i listen to a sermon preached from other versions I find myself worrying that something is off the mark here. And I also consider the non KJV version sermon very dry. It is like... My gosh how boring and lifeless! Am I caffenated enough for all of this?
You’ve just reduced God’s word to being only found in one version.

That's because in that generation - the KJV was about the only available version available.

Thats like saying that your grandmother never used a microwave as a young wife.
Could be they did not have any back there. But once on the market - I bet she finally got one!
WAIT- WHY - cooking in a Sears model 1611 stove is much better!
But she cannoteth maketh goodeth enougheth cornbredeth in her modern microwaveth! Taketh thateth!

The two most important parts of church...

1. Worship - In music
2. The Word - A qualified speaker

Suggesting changes in translation is very similar to suggesting changes in worship. The way some modern worship songs sound to me....

We need your presence... Rah! Rah! Rah!
We need your presence... Rah! Rah! Rah!
We need your presence... Rah! Rah! Rah!
(repeating the same three lines over and over)

An attempt to talk to the worship leader in the tune of, "this really doesn't mean a whole lot to me" or, "the old hymns had a whole lot more meaning" is the same as saying "the sermon didn't carry a lot of weight" after some sugar coated sermon.
The MV’s also contain the very word of God as well. You are worshipping the KJV over and above Christ. That’s idolatry.

The old hymns and KJV sermons disappeared on me in the last couple of decades. The successful churches (as far as numbers) all avoid the old hymns and KJV.

I begun this video with camp meeting type piano and then entered something modern. The problem was there was no off fashion choir to go along with the anointed piano playing. The piano player is like 90 years old and only knows the old hymns. When something modern comes up she will take up a seat besides the piano.

I will maintain that the golden age of Christianity embodied two things...

1. Worship - With hymns from the Fanny Crosby era (1820-1915)
2. Word - With minister of all types of denominations preaching from the KJV

People from my own movement call me, "old school" and I am not ashamed of that. I simply do not like the rock concert feel I get out of so many churches these days. And the following scripture comes to mind every time...

The Lord said, this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: - Isaiah 29:13

Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. - Jeremiah 6:16

I believe the church movements were seven

1. Messianic
2. Martyr
3. Greek Orthodox
4. Catholic
5. Protestant
6. Methodist (I believe the UMC was a highjack)
7. Charismatic - Rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing?

I think all within the movements have the possibilities of receiving salvation. The Philadelphian movement (the sixth church), though, was my favorite. The old timers used to boast with much joy... We have something that will take us to heaven! I wonder today... Where the modern movements are taking us?

So you apparently you would love to sit under the pastor of Faithful Word Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona.

I would have to get to know the senior pastor. Is this a good man? And remembering the words of Jesus Christ...

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. - Matthew 22

On these two commandments...

1. Does the man love God? Does he have good spiritual motives?
2. Does the man love people? Is he also a good father at home?

If he has the fruit of the Spirit (basically a good man) as outlined in the book of Galatians I would not mind following him.

I continue to use and love my King James Bible but I often find myself laboring needlessly trying to understand a passage and when I open up my ESV (my "Alexandrian" version of choice), I immediately see the clarity and then go back to my King James and say "Oh, that's what it says!":Laugh

Ye shall know them by their fruits - Matthew 7:16

The people difference...

1. Jonathan Falwell - A wonderful man I have no problem trusting
2. Jerry Falwell jr - A terrible man I would not trust at all

Same family, same upbringing, same religious school of thought. Yet two totally different people.

As far as the bad comments here I would get the same talk out of the churches I attend.
Those were not bad comments, but objections to putting the KJV on a pedestal it has no reason being on. You’ve reduced the word of God to the superiority of the KJV. If you love the KJV and are blessed to grow in it, by all means, keep on keeping on. But don’t make it the only English translation fit for man to have.
