“The prodigal son and the unjust Steward”

I don't know much about the teachings of Herbert W. Armstrong, but I certainly agree that there is no bible verse which mentions either the United States or Great Britain.

    The Heart Of The Gospel

It would be logical, if God's word didn't tell us different. Ephesians 2, for example, which tells us that we were dead in trespasses and sins, but God made us alive. And Romans says something similar: “7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would...

    The Heart Of The Gospel

I cannot remember how many times I and others have said that you are wrong when you say that those with Calvinistic beliefs imagine that they were so special that God picked them out before creation. I have never heard of anybody who believes that. The bible does talk about those who are saved...

    The Heart Of The Gospel

Of course it can be true that: 1) sinners must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ in order to be saved, whilst at the same time, 2) God's enabling is required for a sinner to believe on the Saviour. Your last sentence, "But your religion says salvation is unconditional which is clearly an...

    The Heart Of The Gospel

But those of us who believe Calvinist doctrines certainly believe Acts 16:31, so there is no need to "get past our errant (according to you) C?R view."

    On what does Christianity stand?

That seems very logical at first, but where did the person who shared the gospel with Bob get it from? Surely the bible. If what the person shares with Bob is not firmly based on the bible, then whatever it is, it is not the gospel. Whether the person reads the words of an actual bible to...

Unapologetic Dispensational Truths - Is the KJV Required For Us to Believe It.

To avoid confusion, could you just confirm that you meant, "Typically KJVO blatther,"not "Typically NKJVO blatther?" I have never come across anybody who is New King James Version Only.

Is Satan A Real Entity Who Can Influence English Language Translators and Subtlety Impact Their Translations

Agreed. Then there are the British English words like corn: At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat. (Matthew 12:1) Americans' minds might immediately go to the corn that in the song was...

Is Satan A Real Entity Who Can Influence English Language Translators and Subtlety Impact Their Translations

The problem with that is that there are several words in the KJV which, while still used today, now have a completely different meaning to what they had in 1611. Here are a few examples: "carriages" (in the KJV means "equipment," in current English refers to a passenger waggon on a railway...

    The Eucharist Communion

Ah, now I understand. I thought the earlier post was saying something like, "If the Baptist Board considers Roman Catholicism to be a Christian denomination, then surely we all should." I obviously read the message to quickly and carelessly. Sorry!

    The Eucharist Communion

I don't really understand why you posted this in answer to Cathode. He's a Roman Catholic, so I am sure he would not say that Roman Catholicism is not a Christian denomination. What point were you making?

Is Satan A Real Entity Who Can Influence English Language Translators and Subtlety Impact Their Translations

I agree with most of that (I say "most" because I don't know anything about the new easy reader Bibles" you mentioned. I don't know which ones they are, as you didn't say, so I cannot know whether I agree with that part or not.)

Is Satan A Real Entity Who Can Influence English Language Translators and Subtlety Impact Their Translations

Thank you for y taking the trouble to reply. All I meant by my short post was that the Methodist Church cannot have been "birthed from the Keswick movement," because Methodism began in the mid-18th century, over a hundred years before the Keswick Movement started.

The Keswick Convention didn't start until 1875, long after Methodism started with the Wesleys.

Is Satan A Real Entity Who Can Influence English Language Translators and Subtlety Impact Their Translations

I don't know any bible translators personally, and the prayer diary I get from Wycliffe Bible Translators tends to give details of projects, problems in the countries being worked in, and matters for praise. I can't remember reading reports of how the devil attacks translators. I can imagine...

John MacArthur deathly ill/ (edit) John is now with the Lord

He has, as the following, just sent out by Evangelical Times, shows: John MacArthur (1939-2025) American Bible teacher, John MacArthur has died. The organisation that he led, Grace To You, issued a statement saying:

Is Satan A Real Entity Who Can Influence English Language Translators and Subtlety Impact Their Translations

First, the devil misquoted Psalm 91:11, or rather, quoted it incompletely and out of context; he didn't translate it. Second, yes I agree that Satan is real. He will seek to attack all Christians in whatever work they do for the Lord, and that includes bible translators. That is a good reason...

Are there NT Churches apart from Baptist Churches then?

It would depend what that individual church believed. For example, I once attended a Christmas Day service at a Methodist church. The "sermon" consisted of inviting the children present to come to the front and show off the Christmas presents they had received. Jesus was not even mentioned...

If The Trinitarian Bible Society Did a revised Kjv Would KJVO accept it?

I suppose a scriptural example of the same thing would be: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1 Ro "want" something then meant to lack it. Now, it means to strongly desire something.

Is it okay to use the NKJV?

It depends on the edition. Many NKJV bibles are printed with copious cross-references. Whichever translation one uses, it is a good idea to check, using a concordance, what the original Hebrew or Greek word meant. The concordance will show every place where the same original word is used...
