    Giving Under Compulsion?

Our church has locked boxes for offering, but like others have mentioned, most give on line. As a "senior", I give once a year as part of my RMD (required minimum distribution) that the IRS makes me withdraw from a business IRA account. It is added to my taxable income UNLESS I donate it to...

    Finding Qualified Young Pastors

OPC is Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Very conservative. Nothing to do with Oneness doctrine. Denomination of the cultic oneness is called the UPC or United Pentecostal Church. This is the most liberal pentecostal group in doctrine, but stronger in legalist living (dress codes, etc) You are...

    Finding Qualified Young Pastors

My, I pray THAT isn't true. Have some OPC friends who are very conservative theologically compared to the liberal Presbies. But "Oneness" is NOT a Christian "CHURCH", but a "CULT" by definition (using "cult" in historic definition, not to personally attack which is forbidden on the BB) like...

Favorite Basketball Coach - Crimson Tide

Always a joy to watch Nate Oats, Alabama coach, training and leading his boys in character and work-ethic (and hopefully, victories). I was best man at his parents' wedding and known Nate his whole life. Strong fundamental Baptist (grad of Maranatha Baptist University here in Watertown, WI) and...

Looks like prices will be going up, up, up!

So thankful we'll have a President who will deal with long-term issues. 95% of what Reagan and now Trump SAID is for negotiating, not for implementing policy. Last night, Canadian uber-lib Trudeau called Trump for TWO HOURS to work thru these issues. Trump made his career in business and I...

    Hello

Welcome! As a missionary pastor in Wyoming 35 years, I worked mostly with Baptist, Bible, EFree, to help them in challenges. Benn on the Baptist Boards since its founding and glad to have new folks join. READ a lot, post a little for a week or two, and you'll get the feel of how things work...

    The case for Mark 16:16.

You do not PROVE a negative. It is up to the positive to prove it is valid. Especially thorny in words or books ADDED to God's Word. Hard to prove them valid. First 300 years of church history had many pious books floating around that were considered in some lists to be "canonical". Church...

    The case for Mark 16:16.

God allowed man to put them in a version. Don't confuse man-made translations, adding "whatever", to the Bible. Do you believe The First Book of Esdras, The Second Book of Esdras, The First Book of the Maccabees, The Second Book of the Maccabees, The Book of Baruch, The Book of Bel and the...

    The case for Mark 16:16.

They might have been sprinkled, poured, dunked, or even 'dry cleaned' (Baptist churches that dedicate babies). But if it was BEFORE salvation, it was NOT "Baptism". All they got was WET.

The Historic Baptist View of the Nicene Creed

I see the Nicene Creed helpful to a certain extent, but not "authoritative" as THE summary of the church. It is certainly NOT infallible and should never be used in place of actual Scripture. We ministered in the strong Latter Day Saints Wyoming/Utah area (who deny much of the Nicene Creed)...

Are you a Baptist? Posting in some areas are limited to Baptists only. NO Baptist believes baptism washes away sin. NONE. That is counter to Baptist polity and theology.

Spirit of Friendship in Baptist Schools

Often between Baptist Schools that are "rivalries" and "competition", especially for the limited pool of potential students. Sports can be negative and hateful in other schools (like who could really be a fan of Ohio State?) but I'm finding a much sweeter friendship and cooperative spirit in my...

    The case for Mark 16:16.

Witten by Casey Perkins The debate over whether the scribe of Vaticanus was aware of the longer ending appears to me to be an absurd one. If one reads the early Fathers, it quickly becomes apparent there was rapid and widespread sharing of Christian writings, even before the time of...

    The case for Mark 16:16.

If you read an honest report, they will say that the KJVonly/MT superiority sect is not accurate in saying you could "fit in these added verses in the blank space". They tried. You have to change the size of letters from every other verse in Mark into much smaller size before it will "fit".

    The case for Mark 16:16.

3 oldest, closest to original. And remember, the weight of copies of copies of copies by the Eastern Orthodox Byzantines are going to be numerous since the used the Greek. The "number" of copies means nothing. The "age" means everything. That is how modern scholarship deals with Shakespeare...

    Separate Women’s Bible Study?

Please explain in detail how to fold a fitted bedsheet. Then we can get back to the much easier Bible discussion.:rolleyes:

    The case for Mark 16:16.

Back to the well-meaning, but confusing addition to the ending of Mark (added after v 8). My thoughts Mark stopped writing his gospel account given by Peter in 16:8. We have no clue as to "why". Some suggest death of Peter or in persecution in Rime. Others then tried to "finish" his narrative...

    Separate Women’s Bible Study?

Agree. Right principle and guidelines. Man may teach men and women and children. Woman may teach women and children only, not to usurp authority/man's role. Can almost see Miriam on the far bank of the Red Sea leading her tambourine exercise class,

A Timeline of the KJV-Only Movement

My home church in Minneapolis housed Central Baptist Theological Seminary which strongly promoted original language study. When I took classes, the 1901 ASV was preferred for its reflection of the Greek verb structure in English. (To me it read like an IKEA instruction in phrases I thought were...

    Questionable Doctrines

Which old covenant? Probably where debate comes in, bro. Paul carefully says Jesus is the promised offspring of Abraham (not the Jewish people), the promised Messiah. So are we today in a NEW covenant getting xyz "promises" of the OLD? My use of old covenant is mosaic Law, not Abraham's...
