    PSA

There are many things I believe and keep them to myself, it's conjecture and I can't easy prove it from Scripture. I normally don't offer such, but I will in this case. Now remember this is conjecture. If God just let sin go without punishing it, as some believe He does, then legally man...

Mary and the recent Papal teaching

I think some of what we believe and say doesn't represent the truth of the Catholic faith. We or I should say I see the RCC taking extreme liberties to add to the Scripture what is not there. It's the history part of the RCC beliefs they seem to counts as equal to Scripture, it just seems...

Mary and the recent Papal teaching

I don't know what's going on in the RCC at any given time. When something like this happens I like to get your input as to what's happening. Looks like there's no shock waves taking place though.

The Classic view of the Atonement

You must be a work with nothing to do. I just got up for some milk and brownies, going back to bed. To late for all of this till morning.

LOL, you missed your calling somewhere along the line for standup.

I knew I liked you, I just didn't know why until now!

The Classic view of the Atonement

Hey Jon, Calvin wasn't wrong about everything!

The Classic view of the Atonement

PSA can be whatever you want it to be, I have no problem with that. To me it's a product I find in between the lines of Scripture., the best fit I can find according to the Jehovah God found in the OT.

    The Free Gift

"Receiving His word" was the very instant of salvation. They believed. In that instant, justification before God was declared, sanctification- our position "In Christ" was declared by regeneration. All together in that instant they received the free gift and became joint-heirs with Christ.

    The Free Gift

The benefits of the atonement are useless without repenting and believing in the finished work of Christ.

    The Free Gift

How is the free gift of salvation free if you have to make a decision to receive it? Some will say this is works or we aided in saving ourselves through this decision. I think we will all agree that the salvation of the Lord is all of His doing and nothing from man, so how can it be free if we...

The Classic view of the Atonement

We agree on what actually counts. We have no problems, Jon. It's just me with my thing against sin. I take my sin as the means in which those nails were driven into His hands. As if there were no other sin in this world but mine, and I'm the reason He hung on that Cross. Sin is a terrible...

The Classic view of the Atonement

Yes, I think it's amazing too. Why did it take so long for man to realize his entire problem with God is sin? And that God's plan of redemption revolves around the problem of sin?

The Classic view of the Atonement

The Scripture had the opposite effect on me through the years. I look back at the early Christians throughout several centuries and wonder if they actually understood the seriousness of sin and how that God hates it for man's sake. It's so serious that only His Son could take it away through a...

The Classic view of the Atonement

I would say all 9 points are dead on the money! I especially like #6 that is one I'm afraid many need to learn! Well done!

    Points of disagreement.

No Jon, you're forgetting something that the Calvinists deny. There is a condition to be met that God demands in order to benefit from the atonement for our sins. Do you remember what that condition is?

    Points of disagreement.

The Old Covenant with the Ten Commandments was broken by man before Moses could get down off the mountain with the tablets. The New Covenant in Christ is an everlasting Covenant that can't be broken, impossible to be broken. This New Covenant in Christ Jesus is based on His performance...

    Points of disagreement.

That's not the way it goes, Martin. We will disagree all the way through this. Christ is the satisfaction for the sins of all of humanity in that Christ has reconciled us to God, making it possible for salvation to take place. The fractured relationship between God and man has been mended so to...

The Classic view of the Atonement

I agree with his view in the video what "you shall surly die" means vs God "killing you" as he put it. As I see it when Adam sinned, the death sentence of spiritual death fell on Adam, this is separation from God, the fractured relationship through disobedience. The physical death would...

The Classic view of the Atonement

You have to make your points as well as I, no offence taken in that, Brother. Yes, I remember he had another view on "you shall surly die." I think he overlooks both a physical death and a spiritual death. He placed the emphasis on the physical death, I place it on the separation from God.
