    Four reasonable questions concerning KJVO

Well what did James write? If the definition of ἐδικαιώθη is justified then it should say justified. Could "considered righteous" be what James intended for it to mean? Sure. The problem for me is that if you're translating it to say what you think it should say then it really isn't a...

    Four reasonable questions concerning KJVO

It certainly can't be called a word-for-word or dynamic equivalent translation. James 2:20-24 (NIV) - You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar. You see...

    Four reasonable questions concerning KJVO

I’ll put it this way. I would not give a new convert a KJV where the archaic language may be a hindrance. I also would not give them a paraphrase such as NIV or NLT either because those do need seek to accurately reflect the original languages. Unfortunately, the updated NASB has become a...

    Four reasonable questions concerning KJVO

All I have done is lay out the historical facts. The KJV translators would not have held your position. They even encourage further scholarship to improve upon their work in the preface to the reader.

    Two contradictory teachings.

He’s not speaking to only the Jews now. He switched his audience to Jews and Gentiles. The break is back in verse 8.

    Four reasonable questions concerning KJVO

By all means, please continue to use the KJV as your primary translation. If that’s all you have then you’ll be just fine. I’m just simply saying that it is a historical fact that Christians going back to the first century didn’t have the same resources that the KJV translators had. You didn’t...

    Four reasonable questions concerning KJVO

So every Christian before 1611 was lead astray and will face judgement?

    Four reasonable questions concerning KJVO

I used to be KJVO myself and at some point I took the time to understand that the translators did not have as many resources as we have today, understand that there are reasonable explanations for textual variations and understand that I was jumping through way too many hoops to defend my...

    Four reasonable questions concerning KJVO

Here is my view of God's Word. Titus 1:2 - In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began. Was Jesus killed before being hung up on the cross? Or was he killed by being hung up on the cross? You still haven't answered the question.

    Four reasonable questions concerning KJVO

So you reject the KJV and NKJV rendering? What translation would you go with?

    Four reasonable questions concerning KJVO

Which rendering is more accurate? Acts 5:30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. (KJV) The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree. (NKJV)

    Israel & The Land

    Has this prophecy been fulfilled?

    Israel & The Land

I would say Abraham is the root as well as all those who are of his lineage. I certainly don't claim to be dogmatic about my perspective. There are different angles you can look at this especially if you read Revelation which has a Jewish connotation after Chapter 3. Then you have the...

    Israel & The Land

Romans 11:17-24 - And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. Thou...

Baptism Doth Also Now Save Us

I'd like to give my understanding of these verses and will be open to other possible interpretations. 1 Peter 3:15-22 - But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having...

    Four reasonable questions concerning KJVO

These guys love the number 7 to claim divine perfection. They say it had to go through a 7 step “refining process” from each translation starting with Tyndale’s Bible and the English Bibles that came after up until 1604. Then it took 7 years to translate and publish the KJV in 1611. Then another...

    Four reasonable questions concerning KJVO

The majority of cults use the KJV because it is free and the archaic language makes it easier to twist scripture. I once fell into that trap. Funny enough, the Book of Mormon attempts to use Elizabethan English and does not properly render the ye's, thee's, thine and thou's in many places.

    Two contradictory teachings.

Specifically in Ezekiel 37 and 38, the Bible speaks of the regathering of Israel (fulfilled in 1948) and then it speaks of a large force from the north attacking them. Again, this hasn’t happened yet.

    Two contradictory teachings.

Romans 2:1 - Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. Really? So the Gentiles would be judging other Gentiles or Jews for what reason? The Jews could only be...

    Two contradictory teachings.

Pay attention to where the break is Romans 2:8 - But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath And I believe there are still unfulfilled promises to the nation of Israel, so if that makes me a “dipsy” then use whatever term you’d...
