    Eschatology

So, I have no problem believing this will happen. But I'm not sure how that proves post-trib. And at one point you said post-trib and pre-wrath, which are two contradictory positions. Did you mean you hold to both of those?

    Eschatology

    Yes it is.
  3. John of Japan

    Eschatology

Yes they are. Then the Second Coming happens. But that description is nothing like a rapture (v. 37): it's public, powerful, and pervasive. Christ rules the earth from then on. We probably won't agree, but that's okay.

    As Paul Harvey said:

There are those who would classify the incident under "Darwin Awards." ;) "Let's see. I have a car, a deadly weapon, and he has a gun, a deadly weapon. Let's see who wins."
  5. John of Japan

    As Paul Harvey said:

I believe it's possible to make threats and smile. It's easy to accidentally get into reverse. I did it myself the other day. Yet his cell phone shows that he was hit. I'd say it's possible for him to panic too. Only he had a gun. If one is protesting some police force or other, one should...

    As Paul Harvey said:

No offense, but you're speculating in some of this like everyone else. :Coffee For example, how do you know that the woman was not making any threats? How do you know she panicked? How do you know she didn't deliberately hit him? I wouldn't say yea or nay yet on any of those, personally.

    Eschatology

Okay. I'm not sure what those Scriptures are for, but I respect your right to take your position. And why do you put "Pot-trib, pre-wrath rapture"? Those are two different positions.
  8. John of Japan

    Eschatology

I have no trouble doing so. I just can't see a new husband (Jesus) putting His bride (the Church) through a tribulation.

    Eschatology

Yep, Dispensational Premil, Rapture, pre-trib. You?

    As Paul Harvey said:

Thank you. I watched the whole thing and was helped.

    Not going to Church???

Okay, thanks. Reminds me of a sign I have on my office door.

    Not going to Church???

According to Eph. 4, the primary purpose of church is to train the believers for ministry. So if you want to serve God, you should go to church to learn how.

    Not going to Church???

I'm trying to figure this out. What would keep a man from going to church more than once a month when he can be active throughout the week at the church?

    Not going to Church???

Arthur Pink didn't go to church the last 15 years of his life. Just sayin'. :Cautious

James D. Price Theory of Bible Translation

Here is another principle of Optimal Equivalence: “Optimal equivalence appreciates the goals of formal equivalence but also recognizes its limits” (HCSB, "Foreword"). "Formal equivalence" is the term Nida invented for literal translation. It points to the idea that literal translation tries...

New Book on the Doctrine of Scripture

Ah. Thanks. I should have caught that my own self.

    Reading biblical study books

I've always been curious about something concerning atheists and agnostics. So many of them, going way back into previous centuries, like Robert Ingersoll, and now now Bart Ehrman in this century. My question is, why do they fight so hard against someone they don't believe in? No one in Japan...

James D. Price Theory of Bible Translation

Yep, that's him. And he knew the KJV OT better than anyone. I remember once he was walking down the college halls with a facsimile copy of the 1st ed. KJV. A KJV-Only student saw it and said, "Oh, can I read it?" Of course he said yes, but then the student couldn't figure it out!

    Reading biblical study books

I can't even tell what you mean by this. Please communicate more clearly. You've been vague and ambiguous throughout this thread. I have my own library with 1000s of books; my son has his library with 1000s of scholarly works. (His office is next door to mine.) Our school library has 10s of...

    Reading biblical study books

Are you kidding me? LOL! I read books on Christianity all the time. I'm a professor of Greek, theology, and missions in our Bible college and of theology and Bible translation in our seminary, and I have read copious books to keep up with the disciplines I teach. Also, I'm currently taking a...
