    The Pre-Tribulational Rapture

You have yet to provide a Church using a 66-book canon. I'm still waiting. The Council of Trent accepted the books of previous councils (i.e. Florence). Therefore, how could they have added books when there merely restated what prior councils accepted? "Following, then, the examples of the...

    The Pre-Tribulational Rapture

Really? You made this claim earlier... To demonstrate the Catholic Church added books, you need to provide a list of 66 books by ANYONE in Christian history prior to the Reformation. Can you do that?

    The Pre-Tribulational Rapture

No, you are not answering my question. I'll try again. Can you provide ANY Church in Christian history which used a 66-book (manuscript / scroll / writings) canon until the 16th century? For example, here is an early canon listed by the Third Council of Carthage in 397 A.D.: "It was also...

    The Pre-Tribulational Rapture

I’ll ask again: Can you provide any Church in Christian history which used books / scrolls / manuscripts as their canon which equaled 66 until the 16th century?

    The Pre-Tribulational Rapture

There is NO Church which ever used a 66-book canon. If you think I am in error, can you post any 66-book canon in Christian history prior to the 16th century?

    The Pre-Tribulational Rapture

I'm just curious as there are different canons. If you claim that God determined the canon through certain men, I am wondering when, where and who were these men who received God's message to declare a book canonical. Did churches with a differing canon receive a different message? Otherwise...

    The Pre-Tribulational Rapture

Where and when did God determine your canon?

    The Pre-Tribulational Rapture

Yep. And were it not for Luther's former chancellor Andreas Karlstadt, it wouldn’t even be in the canon, as the Apocalypse was one of the New Testament books Luther wanted to take his scalpel to.

    The Pre-Tribulational Rapture

“Though St. John the Evangelist saw many strange monsters in his vision, he saw no creature so wild as one of his own commentators.” - G.K. Chesterton

    The Pre-Tribulational Rapture

Short for Apocalypse. It is the last book of the New Testament, written by St. John. From the Greek apokalypsis, meaning revelation.

    The Pre-Tribulational Rapture

Great post and well explained. Much better than I did previously.

    Temporal Justification

Has anyone actually denied this? Ever read the New Testament???

    Temporal Justification

Looks like it's you who hasn't read Luther! But I will indulge (pun intended) you... Link to original work ---> Werke. Kritische Gesamtausgabe. [Hrsg. von J.K.F. Knaake et al.] : Luther, Martin, 1483-1546 : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive "...and I (as truly as my Lord...

    Temporal Justification

Do you know what sarcasm is? You might want to look it up before continuing to proceed.

    Temporal Justification

Certainly. The Church has the authority to bind and loose. If you scroll up, I gave an example of St. Paul in 2 Cor.

    Temporal Justification

It looks like it's YOU who have never read Luther. As the other poster correctly stated, many of Luther's initial complaints of abuses were in fact corrected. However, Luther was not interested in reforming the church, but rather forming something new.

    Temporal Justification

Right, I have never read Luther. ( <--- more sarcasm)

    Temporal Justification

One can receive an indulgence from reading the Bible, yes. You too believe in working to achieve remission for a penalty of sin whether you admit it or not. For unless you plan on sticking around until your "Rapture", you will suffer death, which is the working of the ULTIMATE PENALTY FOR YOUR...

    Temporal Justification

No, I have never read Luther's Dissputatio pro Declaratione Virtutis Indulgentiarum . ( <--- Sarcasm) Luther actually contradicts his own later condemnations written in his Disputatio! (e.g. #'s 41, 43, 44, 51, 73 for starters.) Luther later admitted at the end of his life he didn't even know...

    Temporal Justification

Indeed. Luther based his revolt initially on something he really knew nothing about. Indulgences provided the perfect catalyst to begin his revolution.
