Agreed. I think the only time it may become an issue is when a church announces an "official" change from one Bible translation to another version. People tend to dislike change.

I can see things from the Pastor's perspective. Our Pastor once purchased a bottle of apple cider from the supermarket that looked like a champagne bottle. (It was just before New Year's Eve.) And, sure enough, someone who attended our church started a rumor that he saw our Pastor purchasing a...

Even if permitted, I would hope that a church would choose not to take up an offering, under those circumstances. I would not want to give even the appearance of wrongdoing to any outsiders who might be in attendance. But that's just my initial reaction to the idea.
