It's It's, not Its. It's chose, not choose. It's than, not then. In your feeble estimation (that changes with the direction of the wind), you can make your decisions whether the CSB and NLT have used inclusive language correctly or not.

    Daily Bible Reading Plans

Thanks for sharing your Bible reading agenda Rob. You are 85 days ahead? What did you do, read several books (I'm thinking of the Old Testament) in just a few days to speed things up? I have found that I need more bite-size segments to fully digest the material. Now if it's something like 2nd or...

Allow me to quote from my homeboys, Doctors Fee and Strauss : "Consider the Greek phrase that begins Mark's Gospel: Arche tou euangeliou Ie sou Christou (Mark 1:1). Most beginning Greek students would consider this to be simple Greek, which can be translated, 'The beginning of the gospel of...

Scientist Says Coronavirus Vaccine Could Be Ready By September

I want no part of any vaccine. I have not gotten one in a decade. The WHO, with its despicable leader, the CDC and Bill Gates are all wicked to the hilt

The NIV In Comparison to the ESV. Part 3

The English Standard Version is not the English Standard Version, nor should it ever be. It is a lightly dusted off RSV. It was a rush job to get it published in 2001. Now, 19 years later, it has taken micro steps in terms of improvement. For those who like ineloquent English, this is your Baby...

The NIV In Comparison to the ESV. Part 3

Yes, that rendering is a definitive one. However, my favorite is found in Lev. 26:10 : "You shall eat old store long kept." It wins the Clunky Award, hands down. Tonto and Yoda must have been the English stylists. Even the KJV doesn't fare as badly as the ESV does here.

The NIV In Comparison to the ESV. Part 3

Fair play is fair play. The NLT is better with respect to eliminating old-fashioned English. But I have spotted a few examples. I haven't jotted them down though.

Well, it has been more than a week with no responses; yet 67 views. I am beginning to think that most of you do not have an organized plan. You might dip into the Psalms at random, or sometimes flip through the Gospels. Perhaps you glance at the Epistles every now and then. That's unfortunate...

Proverbs 30 v. 7 ESV : deny them not to me NIV : do not refuse me v. 9 ESV : lest NIV : Otherwise v. 13 ESV : how lofty are their eyes, how high their eyelids lift! NIV : whose eyes are ever so haughty, whose glances are so disdainful v. 23 ESV : an unloved woman when she gets a husband NIV...

You are confused. I had said that no major translation goes word-for-word in any sentence. That means, none do. You will be repeating yourself in a short amount of time with your "Leaving aside...." Fee and Strauss give some examples, first from Matthew 1:18 "Translated literally, says that...

"If the goal of translation is to reproduce the meaning of the text, then it follows that all translation involves interpretation. Some people say, 'Just tell me what the Bible says, not what it means.' The problem with this is that 'what the Bible says' is in Hebrew and Greek, and there is...
