    A KJ-Only church.

The Living Bible is special. I have a copy of the Living Bible. I tracked down a used copy of a giant print edition. There are no plans to update it, and the heart of the family that produced it draws me to it. I wish it was still available new in giant print and without the puffy cover. At...

    A KJ-Only church.

Every publisher feels forced to create their own in-house translation, because each publisher makes it so difficult for competitors to use competitor translations. Yes, the KJV is still under copyright in the UK, but it is not under copyright in the USA. I make full use of the freedom that I...

    A KJ-Only church.

The number of translations, and the lack of transparency about when some of those editions are updated is confusing, inefficient, and costly. Some churches will find themselves forced to a take a stand against commercialism.

To Us the Pauline Epistles; To the Jews the Rest of the Books

If it were all so clear, then there would not be so much disagreement. I don't think it is strange to give up on thinking it is all so clear. A young child usually doesn't see its parents behavior as clear. The young children who think they know the most usually have the most ridiculous ideas...

    Please pray for my mother.

Scarlett, I am sorry and I am especially sorry that the diagnosis is Covid. The isolation and controversies and all the other mess that is part of Covid makes difficult things not just more difficult, but surreal. I have no background or experience to draw from to know what to do in this new...

To Us the Pauline Epistles; To the Jews the Rest of the Books

Nothing seems clear to me anymore. Nothing.

    Please pray for my mother.

Dear Father, please comfort Scarlett and her mom as your will is done.

To Us the Pauline Epistles; To the Jews the Rest of the Books

Dake is the only dispensationalist that I know of that starts the Dispensation of Grace at Matthew 3 instead of Acts 3. Starting at Acts 3 means elevating the words of Paul above the importance of the words of Jesus. That makes me uncomfortable. Starting at Matthew 3 means OT promises don't...

To Us the Pauline Epistles; To the Jews the Rest of the Books

I find it really interesting to see where a certain teacher/theologian divides the Bible into "history" and "doctrine", and whether it is implied or emphatically stated, and if they will declare their general choice by declaring a beloved or traditional promise or instruction as not for Christians.

    Justified By Works

I am not sure that I agree with what is taught in these videos about "decent" and "appropriate" commentaries, but at least I now know what is expected of me when people say that to me. I had to work really hard to find the free resources that allow me to participate in certain conversations...

John Dobson - Learn NT Greek

Thanks! Wow, I didn't know she finished the 2nd edtion notes! I used her unaccented notes with the first edition, but then switched to the 2nd as soon as it came out. She took quite awhile to get her notes up and I stopped checking a long time ago.

    KJV3

The loudest people do not know the most. The loudest people don't speak for the masses. Outsiders seldom truly understand insiders. People that were insiders until they "saw the light" are not the most accurate reporters of what goes on inside. People never discuss the issues that motivate me...

You can't live the New Life with the Old Wife!

Context is critical, and context within context within context. The more I learn, the less I know.

    Homeschooling Pro & Con 2

Extracurricular activities is a complicated issue. I have no opinion on it either way, because it overlaps with other issues that have nothing to do with the activities themselves. Taxes is just one of them. Access to scholarships is another. And there are so many more. Some parents are...

John Dobson - Learn NT Greek

I learned enough Greek to know how much that I do not know. I learned that people that know a LOT of Greek might still know very LITTLE, even some modern Greek professors.

Oregon: Vaccinations, Businesses, Churches, and Masks

The courts here are online. The side with the best devices and strongest wifi win almost all the time. Wifi speed is decided by zipcode.

Oregon: Vaccinations, Businesses, Churches, and Masks

Things are starting to change faster here. The disparity between the parts of the city that are white are becoming more and more different from those that are brown. The masks are accentuating the differences, but I noticed something else yesterday: the vehicles are all getting bigger and newer...

    Homeschooling Pro & Con 2

Pandemic homeschooling is an entirely different beast than the type of homeschooling that took place in the 1980's and 1990's, and the type of homeschooling that took place from 2000 to 2019. Pros and Cons lists written by secular observers are not always accurate pros and cons for what takes...

John Dobson - Learn NT Greek

Youtube has some good stuff, but it can be scattered. If the content creator also has a webpage, sometimes they finished the entire course. There is a Great Courses Greek that teaches a combination of Koine and other Greek. I have access to it through my library, along with the Mango courses...
