Actually, I've always taken it in the same sense as that pastor. In my mind's eye, I even imagine a sign with the words, "no trespassing."

On a serious note, though, I'd have difficulty deciding between the CEB and NLT. They seem fairly equal, regarding Psalm 53. Once again: simple, straightforward, modern English. Not bad. :)
