Revelation 16:5: Does KJV Add Words?

And even more so since it was going out of style in NT times, being replaced by nominatives.

Which of these seminaries would you consider?

Pretoria and Stellenbosch... both doing good work in NT studies. They will consider distance learning case by case. For example, Michael Licona explains his reasons for getting his PhD at Pretoria here: http://www.thebestschools.org/blog/2012/05/02/michael-licona-interview/

Revelation 16:5: Does KJV Add Words?

Rare in comparison to the other 4 noun cases. I believe Wallace has it as less than 1%.

Revelation 16:5: Does KJV Add Words?

Not to continue to derail here... But you are wrong, Van. The only reason I'm responding is to see if you will own it. Rev 4:2 Byz: καὶ εὐθέως ἐγενόμην ἐν πνεύματι· καὶ ἰδοὺ θρόνος ἔκειτο ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ, καὶ ἐπὶ τὸν θρόνον καθήμενος Rev 4:2 TR: και ευθεως εγενομην εν...

Revelation 16:5: Does KJV Add Words?

Did you happen to search the LXX? Considering the saturation of the OT in Rev, and if the LXX made use of this wording, then you might expect to see it in Rev. For example: Ps 71:22 I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praises to you with the lyre, O...

Which of these seminaries would you consider?

    Logsdon doesn't have a PhD... just a DMin. And the DMin isn't a teaching/research degree. $.02

Revelation 16:5: Does KJV Add Words?

How about starting a thread dedicated to those passages; I'd be glad to respond then.

    Matt. 23:13 (again!)

Calling you out on your hypocrisy is only a personal attack if you were offended b/c you know its true.

Which of these seminaries would you consider?

I would never expect someone w/ a PhD from U of Chic to have a degree from any of the schools mentioned, except maybe UNISA. I say that b/c biblical studies is thriving in South Africa. I too am considering a school or 2 from there (not UNISA however). But I know some guys working/ed through...

    (2) At what point...

... does God start to love people? In light of Aaron's thread about when God stops loving people, I'd thought I would throw this one out there. After all, if there is a chronological termination for his love, then there would logically be a chronological initiation for it as well, right?

Revelation 16:5: Does KJV Add Words?

I was hoping to get a response from MM on this post. Anything, brother?

Revelation 16:5: Does KJV Add Words?

Especially when you put out so much $$$ for a high end program that is found to be WRONG!

    Matt. 23:13 (again!)

And so instead of arguing against my point you dismiss it w/ pontification. This is why I tire from arguing with you, Van. You couldn't explain to me the 2nd temple Jewish concept of kingdom if I asked. You would assume it means heaven. You couldn't explain to me the concept of salvation...

Which of these seminaries would you consider?

It would help to know what you current degrees are and where they are from.

    Matt. 23:13 (again!)

Here is a great example of your bias and precondition being used in your interpretation. You assume entering the Kingdom of Heaven is the same as entering heaven. First, that is not what the Kingdom is. Second, the goal is not to enter heaven. The goal is to be w/ God in new creation. The Jews...

    Matt. 23:13 (again!)

More of a, perhaps consider it in this light, kind post. I too think it means exactly what it says too (tautology by the way)... but you'd be a liar if you denied that you are supplying some kind of theological precondition to the text. I at least admit that freely. In this case, however, I'm...

Revelation 16:5: Does KJV Add Words?

Concerning the "harder reading" criterion, that is really not at issue here. The external Mss evidence is what trumps the discussion. I will list some places where the nominative of address is used. These come from Wallace's grammar. Jn 17:5 Matt 16:7 Rev 1:13 Mk 9:19 Gal 3:1 Lk 8:54 Jn 19:3...

    Liberty U.'s Direction?

I'm pretty sure that undergrad and graduate does not have to susbscribe so strictly to the school's doctrinal statement. I saw now requirement for MDiv students having to be in "substantial agreement" or anything like that. So it may be a PhD thing.
