    John Gerstner's Unbiblical Nonsense!

That would be a question for Dr. Gerstner. I do not agree with his view on this question.

    John Gerstner's Unbiblical Nonsense!

The stated object of God's love in that verse is not the one believing, it is the world. Anyone in the world who responds to God's love by believing in His Son will have everlasting life. The Lord's words are clear and unambiguous.

    John Gerstner's Unbiblical Nonsense!

Well, I'm not the Lord and I'm pretty sure you're not either. John 5:22.

    John Gerstner's Unbiblical Nonsense!

In my view "speaking the truth to one another in love" is something different than arguing using personal remarks and insinuations. Any unbeliever can do the latter.

    John Gerstner's Unbiblical Nonsense!

Calling out a pattern would focus on the content of posts, and demonstrate that they are false. Impugning a fellow believer's character is not that. Matthew 7:1-2.

    John Gerstner's Unbiblical Nonsense!

I find SBG's responses in kind equally regrettable. But there are deeper roots in the constant denigration of those who do not find the Reformed position in their Bibles. It's a strong and consistent pattern, just take a look at this board.

    John Gerstner's Unbiblical Nonsense!

John 3:16 does not say or imply any limitation of God's love to the elect only. "Whosoever" is not complicated.

    John Gerstner's Unbiblical Nonsense!

It is lamentable that discussion with Reformed types so often elicits this type of ad hominem when the scriptural going gets tough. Reformed theology says God only loves the elect, not the world, in direct conflict with passages like John 3:16 and 1 John 2:2. Nobody here is "lying" about that.

    John Gerstner's Unbiblical Nonsense!

The words are in plain English. Ezekiel quotes God saying He takes no pleasure in judging the wicked. Gerstner claims we will be so holy that we will rejoice in it.

    John Gerstner's Unbiblical Nonsense!

There is no distance between the two. Gerstner's occasion for celebrating God's justice is staring at loved ones suffering in the lake of fire.

    John Gerstner's Unbiblical Nonsense!

Nonsense, it has everything to do with it. The point is "rejoicing" at the judgment of others. God takes no pleasure in such judgment, why would anyone partaking of His holiness through sanctification do so?

    John Gerstner's Unbiblical Nonsense!

What you seem to be missing here is not God's perfect justice in judging unbelievers in the lake of fire. Nobody here questions that. The Ezekiel passages tell us that God takes no pleasure in such judgment. For Gerstner and others to claim that believers will be so "holy" that we will rejoice...

    Many Means All??

No, it ultimately comes down to what the Bible says about God's love for men "while we were yet sinners" in Romans 5:8. Is that page missing in your copy? Works has nothing to do with it.

    Many Means All??

It seems a review of the discussion is in order here. I said, "The question was whether someone in bondage to sin can have a desire to escape. The answer of course is clearly yes. But you (1689) discounted this ability to desire freedom because such motivation is selfish, and then asked 'But is...

    Many Means All??

Are you a sinner? Does God hate you? Your claim that God hates sinners is false and unbiblical, your sarcasm notwithstanding.
  16. Tsalagi

    Many Means All??

The "context" argument only works if you can demonstrate its pertinence, which you haven't done. It seems to be your contention that since Israel is God's chosen people they don't have to be motivated by "the desire to please and glorify God" but with the promise of blessings and threats of...

    Many Means All??

You say, "God hates sin. Therefore God hates the sinner." The Bible says, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8.
  18. Tsalagi

    Many Means All??

It's only "out of context" to your theological construct. I suggest reading Deuteronomy 28 and looking for "the desire to please and glorify God" there since you are evidently disinclined to discuss Jeremiah.
  19. Tsalagi

    Many Means All??

What part of "God HATES sin. Therefore God hates the sinner" did I not actually read? It's in the post, but it's not in the Bible.
  20. Tsalagi

    Many Means All??

Nonsense, Scripture nowhere says this. "God so loved the world" of sinners (John 3:16). David was a man after God's own heart (1 Samuel 13:14). "I have loved Jacob" (Malachi 1:2). Abraham was the friend of God (James 2:23). All of them were sinners, as are we, yet God loves us. You're replacing...
