    Dead in Sin

Calvinism is a subject I've tried lately to let go and need to let go. But it's hard to do, I can feel the brotherhood in their strong stands and firm faith in the Lord. How they came to that faith according to their doctrine grieves my spirit. How we can be so close and yet so far apart is...

    Dead in Sin

Yes, I agree! My admiration of the Calvinist standing firm on salvation is all of the Lord ends at that point. Along with you, how man comes accept salvation is where I draw the line.

    Dead in Sin

I think I didn't understand your initial post where you said "this can't be true" But then again I have been having severe vertigo with head spinning and feeling drunk for sometime now. I've made several mistakes lately and I'm not sure my perception is working.

    Dead in Sin

I f true repentance and faith takes hold in the heart of man there will be a complete turn around. Man now see's things God's way.

    Dead in Sin

Repentance is the same. It's not a lifetime of works to keep your salvation as the Catholics would say. Repentance is an act in the heart of man just as faith.

    Dead in Sin

Is believing the Gospel a work on the part of man? Paul makes it perfectly clear that our salvation is apart from works. Salvation is of Grace through faith, or the opposite by works. It cannot be both. I submit that works is the very opposite of the grace that saves us.

    Dead in Sin

This explanation would fall back on what I've always admired in the Calvinists. salvation is all of the Lord's work.

    Dead in Sin

I've always taken "being spiritually dead" referring to unable to seek God on our own ability, but when the Holy Spirit makes the Gospel real in the heart of the person through the hearing of the Gospel, then man is able to reach out to God and seek Him.

    Training Up a Child

Prov. 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." By far the most used version of the Bible when I was coming up in Church was the KJV. It had been that way since this country (USA) was founded. I followed a long line of kids being taught...

It's Tough Being a IFB Believer

K, that was a challenge for you to prove it is Biblical, good luck!

If once saved - can again be lost? The Poll

@easternstar It's a double whammy on me, not only did I misread your post, it wasn't even sent to me. So it's confirmed I'm losing it.

If once saved - can again be lost? The Poll

If we just examine ourselves from time to time whether we are in the faith, as Paul said, we have nothing to worry about.

If once saved - can again be lost? The Poll

Easterner I guess you think I'm crazy and you could be right! I read your post as "lose" and you said "choose." So my reply had nothing to do with your question. Could you elaborate a little more on them choosing, I could go different ways with that but I'd rather you clarify that for me.

If once saved - can again be lost? The Poll

They were just as righteous then as we are now in this life. Salvation was no different, but we have the added luxury of being born-again that gives us the indwelling Holy Spirit they did not have. But we read many times in Scripture when the OT saints were indwelled with the Holy Spirit for a...

If once saved - can again be lost? The Poll

The Israelites under the Law were not in the dark, they knew exactly what the sacrifice meant.

If once saved - can again be lost? The Poll

No, you will not find those words of mine in Scripture. What you will find is that the Gospel was preached to the Israelites in the wilderness. Heb. 4:12 "For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them...

If once saved - can again be lost? The Poll

We have the same problem today the Israelites had around 4000 years ago keeping the 10 commandments. We have all failed and were condemned, but we try not to steal, commit adultery, etc. just as they did.

If once saved - can again be lost? The Poll

When God said "if a man keeps my commandments" He was not speaking of literally keeping the written Law, that was impossible. Although they were expected to try, and true faith would try. He was speaking of the commandment in the Sacrificial System to believe in sacrifice that covered thiers...

If once saved - can again be lost? The Poll

The Law condemned us by no one being able to keep it. It showed man his weakness with sin and pointed to the Sacrifice in the Sacrificial System that represented Christ. Faith in the coming Messiah was their salvation. We are saved the same way looking back at that sacrifice at Calvary.
