Anabaptists, Catholics and Continuing Extra-Biblical Revelation

I was raised in the Roman Catholic church. Christ saved me at 17. I spent a couple of decades in various semi-Pelagian type churches until my "Reformation Day",. Both of those changes, and another dozen in-between, were very dramatic, and they were not as I followed the environment I was in...

What is the Draw of Cults?

Interesting. So, people choose lies over loss of relationship. I agree that can be the case fo people born into sects and cults, especially ones which are separatists, but what about adult converts? Would you say the same about them?

    Does God Have "Free Will"?

Yes. It is, and that is the point. Unregenerate men do not want to come to God because he is at war with God. "For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot." (Romans 8:7) Many don't see unregenerate men as enemies of God, but...

My apologies. He is on ignore, so I didn't see that you had quoted him.

Anabaptists, Catholics and Continuing Extra-Biblical Revelation

For starters, when we understand the fruit of the Holy Spirit as one, we avoid the error of crediting to the Spirit something that we are naturally gifted with. In other words, ALL of the fruit is present ALL of the time, when the Holy Spirit is at work. That is not to say that there are not...

Anabaptists, Catholics and Continuing Extra-Biblical Revelation

Yup. Another self-appointed "minister". . . Ministers are called by the church, not self-appointed.

Anabaptists, Catholics and Continuing Extra-Biblical Revelation

Actually, I don't believe it was a typo, as many people mistaken refer to them as "fruits". Secondly, the distinction is important.

Anabaptists, Catholics and Continuing Extra-Biblical Revelation

The fruit of the Spirt (not "fruits") is, "Love, joy, peace, patience. . ." I am content with what God has given me. It's all I need: "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence by...

Anabaptists, Catholics and Continuing Extra-Biblical Revelation

The Bible is no enough for those who do not wish to submit to God's authority. Seeking some way to do an end-run around the cold hard facts laid out in scripture, these modern-day seers are no different from those described in the OT.

Anabaptists, Catholics and Continuing Extra-Biblical Revelation

When Paul wrote his letters, the canon was not yet formed. Once it had been, there is no longer need of these gifts, just as there will be no need for pastors in the world to come. Sects and cults use new "revelation" and "prophesy" to control, manipulate and deceive.

    Good-bye, Sweden?

Sweden is gone. Canada is well on its way. The US is not far behind it. I can see no way to reverse it. The horse is out of the barn. This world is doomed, but for Christ.

    He ran towards the fire

I don't completely disagree with that expectation.

    Does God Have "Free Will"?

More like, wanting to do what you don't want to do. In the context of soteriology, some hold, "the position that the unbeliever’s free will is sufficiently self-contained, self-sufficient, and self-caused (without external coercion) so as to be able to accept or reject Christ as Savior, on his...

How Do People Buy Guns Legally?

Cain killed his own brother by crushing his skull with a rock. No permit required.

    Does God Have "Free Will"?

I've used the definition of free will widely held by non-Calvinists, and my assertion is neither God nor man has Libertarian Free Will.

Is the Bible Sufficient for Life and Godliness?

    Making "prophesy" superfluous.

    He ran towards the fire

No man runs into the line of fire of an AR instinctively, and no deputy is likely trained to the level where he would. Going from standing around for a decade or two seeing no more action than a mall cop, to running into the line of fire is a lot to ask of any man.

    He ran towards the fire

You called the man a "coward", then you fail to attempt to put yourself in his shoes. . . I do not know what the man did or what went through his mind. He may have acted in a cowardly manner, but, not many people run in front of AR-15s easily. Also, unassisted, a single person, likely never...
