Why I am not a Calvinist.. the ACTUAL topic of this thread

can you provide any Scriptures for this? This sounds very much that God is not sincere in His desire to save everyone, because though He does, yet His will forbids this? Because Reformed theology has done away with human free will and responsibility, they have resorted to such absurd reasoning.

I live in England and the opposition to the Gospel is here just as it all over the world! I keep seeing your reasoning in many places, that "world" means "Jews and Gentiles". Did you know that this is exactly the same as saying, the "entire world"? The human race consists of TWO, Jews and non...

1 John 2:2 says, "And He Himself is the propitiation concerning our sins, and not concerning ours only, but also concerning the whole world." where the Greek, "ἱλασμός", means "atonement, sin-offering" (Liddell and Scott Greek lexicon). The LXX uses "ἱλασμός" for the Hebrew "kippur" (atonement...

Why I am not a Calvinist.. the ACTUAL topic of this thread

I might be wrong here. But does not Calvinism teach that only the elect were actually "redeemed" on the cross by Jesus Christ? And, that from eternity past, God has chosen only the elect, who will come to Him for their salvation? If this is the case, how can Jesus have "died for all mankind"...

I don't really know where you guys get your theology from? You speak of a sinners always wanting to reject Jesus Christ, this is complete nonsense. I was not saved till I was over 20 years old (I am 56 now), and yet I cannot remember a day when I wanted to reject Jesus Christ, and even though...

That is because in all honesty they cannot answer such texts well, as it actually goes against their "theology". so they have to look for ways out...

Why I am not a Calvinist.. the ACTUAL topic of this thread

I see that at least you admit that we all sinners, have "free will", which is an important start. I know that no sinner can come of their own to Christ for salvation, and doubt if any sane Christian would believe in this! The "convicting" of the sinners is just that, He shows them their sins and...

Why I am not a Calvinist.. the ACTUAL topic of this thread

So, what about Jesus when speaking to the Jews who wanted to murder Him? When He tells these Jews; "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you are not willing to come to me that you may have life." (John...

Why I am not a Calvinist.. the ACTUAL topic of this thread

Not many of the Calvinistic or Reformed camp really explain Paul's words in Romans 9, a chapter they much misuse thinking it supports their form of salvation. In verse 22, which you have rightly highlighted, Paul says, "endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction?" WHY...

Why I am not a Calvinist.. the ACTUAL topic of this thread

Interesting that this passage that you quote from, is actually speaking to born-again believers. It says that these were "sanctified" (ἁγιάζω), never used for the unsaved in the New Testament. Then, we also have the words, "His people", showing who these "sanctified" are. Therefore...

Why I am not a Calvinist.. the ACTUAL topic of this thread

John 3:16 deals with God universal love for all mankind, and the fact that IF any of these who are part of the human race, were to "believe", then they too will be saved. Interestingly, the KJV, with its Calvinistic influence (see their misrendering of the Greek in Acts 2:47, to support...

Why I am not a Calvinist.. the ACTUAL topic of this thread

No, the best reason not to be a Calvinist, is because nothing beats being a simple "Christian", a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. As the Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians, which I will expand, "did John Calvin die for you?"

    Revised Standard Version

You speak of "hype", then I suggest you see some facts. 1. Genesis 22:16, the RSV has rendered the Hebrew, "זַרְעֲךָ֔", by "descendants", whereas the Hebrew noun is masculine and singular. This is a Prophecy of Jesus Christ as Paul tells us in Galatians 3:16, where he makes the point in saying...
  14. Saved-By-Grace

    Revised Standard Version

The RSV translation is a heretical one. Dr O T Allis in an appendix to his excellent book, "Revision or new translation?: " The revised standard version of 1946, " a comparative study. Revised version or revised Bible? : a critique of the Revised standard version of the Old Testament (1952)"...

you forgot Romans 11:32, "For God hath shut up ALL unto disobedience, that he might have mercy upon ALL."

Why I am not a Calvinist....

You saying that God created the greater majority of His own creation, to be damned forever? Then on what basis does He save any? Bear in mind that the nation of Israel were also "elect", and yet they were cast aside because of their unbelief, as Hebrews and Romans tell us. Paul's reasoning in...

Why I am not a Calvinist....

I have no problem with appointed. The issue here is who does the appointing, and does the word ever have the meaning "pre"? The context, verses 46 and 48 taken together, where the rejection of the Gospel by the Jews, was a "self act"; corresponding to this, is the action of the Gentiles, which...

Why I am not a Calvinist....

For anyone who believes in the predestination of the elect to salvation, would have to also believe in the predestination of the non-elect to damnation. This is what Augustine taught, because he saw that you cannot have the one without the other.
  19. Saved-By-Grace

Why I am not a Calvinist....

The Reformed/Calvinistic view, is that it teaches "Predestination" of individuals to eternal life. The context and Greek grammar is clearly against this. Firstly, the Greek word rendered "ordained", is the verb, "τάσσω", which has nothing to do with any "preordaining" or "predetermined", or...
