Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

Not in the Bible anywhere. Nor do the Hebrew and Greek words used for the punishment of the wicked, ever support "annihilation", at any time. This is all pure conjecture and wishful thinking!

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

Hi, it is not "reasonable" at all, if what you suggest is not based on the use of the Greek word, "ἀπόλλυμι". I have consulted the Greek lexicons that I have available to me, Liddell and Scott, Arndt and Gingrich, Thayer, Robinson, Parkhurst, Kittel, Colin Brown, Sophocles, Moulton and Milligan...

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

If you mean that "annihilationism" is "totally consistent with all scripture", then you must have a special version of the Bible. I am willing to listen to anyone who takes the time to show from Scripture ALONE, by a close examination of the original languages, and then post their research here...

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

See my response to Van. Your arguments mean nothing as they are NOT based on the facts of the usage of Hebrew and Greek. Forget English, as there are many instances where the wrong words have been chosen by the English translators for both the Hebrew and Greek.

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

I think that people have really missed what the Bible says on the fate of the lost wicked. You say that "Eternal separation from God is eternal punishment", but, to the wicked who don't really care about God or anything that concerns Him in this life, why should they care a hoot if they will be...

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

hello Mark, I am convinced that those who hold to the view, that the wicked will be "annihilated", are very much mistaken and deceived in their "theology". I am yet to see any reference, to any Greek word that denotes "annihilation", when these words were available at the time the writers of the...

When a "christian" is not a "Christian"

There are millions in our world who profess to a "christian" faith, that is based on "knowing about God", rather than actually "knowing God". There is a big difference here. The former is someone who has no real relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, even though they may believe that they are...

"The kingdom of heaven is at hand."

Luke 17:21 has Jesus speaking to the Pharisees, where He says: "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you". The Greek "ἐντὸς ὑμῶν", does not always mean "within you", as it can mean "among you", which must be the case here, as there is no way...

    Demons and demon possession

The biggest lie that the devil has used to convince the majority, is, that he does not exist. Another lie is, that he is a "pussy cat", and not what the Bible says, "a roaring lion", who goes around "seeking whom he may devour", that is, "to swallow up, destroy". This is very serious! I am also...

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

"losing conscious existence forever."? Jesus clearly describes the final state for the unsaved as a place of "conscious existence", where He uses terms like, "gnashing of teeth", "torments", "suffering", "where THEIR worm (spiritual bodies) never die and the fire not extinguished". You cannot...

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

You cannot use human logic and reasoning to understand the depths of Almighty God!

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

In the New Testament, there are three Greek words that are translated as "hell" in our English bibles. 1. Ἅιδης" (hades), which is a "place of departed spirits", and used in passages like Luke 16:23, in the account of the rich man and Lazarus. In verse 24 we read the rich man say that he was...

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

So, are the sufferings of the wicked in hell, also "symbolic"?
  14. AndyMartin

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

Then can you explain in very simple terms, what you mean by "torment"?

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

Your "views" seem very much to be in conflict with the teaching of the Holy Bible. You are gravely mistaken if you think that the "torment" that the wicked will endure, is only "separation" from God. This is exactly what the devil would have all the lost believe!

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

So, what sort of "punishment" do the wicked have in hell, if they are unaware of it? I note that you say a lot, but I see no references from the Bible? Surely ALL that we believe if we are true followers of Jesus Christ, MUST be based on the Solid Authority of the Infallible Word of God?

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

So, do the souls of the wicked in hell suffer eternal punishment?

thanks, my misreading his simple words. old age!

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

    Apologies, I missed this!

Hell: Which View is The Bible One?

Ok, thanks. But I think that the Bible does equate hell as a punishment for the lost, as their "due" for the rejection of the Lord Jesus Christ in their lives. It is both the Righteous Judgement of God, as well as punishment. I don't think we can really separate the two?
