    This Seems Big.

And yet the Baptists seem to have rubbed along fairly ok with that problem for the last 400 years; you know the old joke - "ask two Baptists a question about doctrine and you'll get three different answers."

    This Seems Big.

Apart from Revelation which dates to the 90s. And that still doesn't help us know which texts were treated as NT and which were not. What were circulating in the 100sAD were the equivalent of some of the works of Shakespeare and some of the works of Marlowe, Bacon and Spenser without the...

In theory, yes. He'd be slapped down and very possibly deposed by his fellow-bishops in short order if he did so publicly , but he's capable of having the same doubts and struggles about his faith as the rest of us.

Because he is human and fallible like the rest of us. As CMG has helpfully explained, only ex cathedra statements - of which there are but a handful - are deemed infallible by the Catholic Church, and the present Pope hasn't made any. So his expressed opinions are open to challenge from other...

No, an infallible Bible. What's the use of having infallible Scriptures if there is no infallible interpretation?

    This Seems Big.

Do you not understand the difference between the man and the statements? Or do you not want to understand it?

    So what's the use?

    This Seems Big.

Except that we disagree on what they mean, so ultimately an infallible Bible does not in and of itself produce an infallible epistemology

    Trump blasts NFL kneelers

Except most employment contracts aren't that specific in the way you describe. Employees have rights: I can't force my secretary to wear a short skirt for example. A Muslim CEO can't force his employees to pray to Mecca five times and day and a Christian employed can't force a Muslim employee to...

The Pope is not infallible. That is not Catholic doctrine. A few rare decisions of Popes in the past have been deemed infallible, but their nature flows from office not the man, in much the same way as the US military salute and respect the office of President, not necessarily the man.

    Trump blasts NFL kneelers

As a Christian I would find it very difficult to 'sacrifice to Caesar' in the way that so much of this 'honoring the flag/ national anthem' seems to resemble. And I don't think it's adequate to demand that someone violates their conscience as part of their employment contract. What if it was a...

DACA must end, or we have another problem in years to follow!

Pots and kettles spring to mind here...and theology simply means "words about God": are you seriously suggesting we shouldn't talk about God here?

‘Nashville Statement’ condemns LGBT Christians and those who support them

Since the former was written hundreds of years before Jesus was born and the latter decades after He ascended to the Father, plus we have no record of Him writing anything during His time on earth, I fail to see how such a claim can be made

‘Nashville Statement’ condemns LGBT Christians and those who support them

Easy for you to say. Come back to me when you've led an enforced celibate life but still been denounced from the pulpit of your home church as an abomination and pervert (not you personally of course, just your 'kind', so that's alright then).

‘Nashville Statement’ condemns LGBT Christians and those who support them

I don't think Jesus has anything to say about homosexuality. In any event many have taken it up with Him and have arrived at a conclusion different from yours. On what basis do you claim that your revelation is superior? You're asking the wrong person. Why don't you ask a Christian with that...
