John MacArthur is addressing Catholic heresies

Hmmm....I don't buy that bit of eisegesis which owes far more to Luther's naughty allein that he scribbled in the margin of his Bible, rather than to the plain meaning of Scripture itself. Not quite: as it has been explained to me, it is not so much 'co-operation' as 'non-resistance'. And the...

John MacArthur is addressing Catholic heresies

OK, it is possible then that we are using different terms to describe similar if not the same things: you say 'redemption', others speak of 'glorification', Catholics speak of 'purging'; we are all talking about the need for us to become 'holy as God is holy' I believe. My question to you...

    Pastor-only-administered ordinances/sacraments?

    Communion, yes, baptism, no.

The most offensive verse in the Bible.

The verses I find most offensive are the OT passages where God (apparently) commands the Israelites to commit genocide. I'm still trying to figure that one out...

John MacArthur is addressing Catholic heresies

I Cor 3:13-15? (For instance.) Not 'for sin' but rather for the actual eradication of sin. May I pick up on the word 'glorified' which you used. What do you mean by that, and how do you think that happens? Also, what distinction are you making between flesh and spirit and how is this made...

John MacArthur is addressing Catholic heresies

Er...I don't think they do! All the Catholics I know would assert that salvation is a work of grace, whereby God works through man. Why, then, do we continue to sin? [B] I think you're in danger of conflating the two concepts. Forgiven and paid for? Yes, all of it. But purged in the sense of...

    Sacraments or ordinances?

I wonder then what you make of John 14:23 and the Scriptures DHK referenced: it seems to me to be pretty clear that Jesus and the Father dwell within us too.

    Sacraments or ordinances?

Wait, what? Christ is a polygamist?!!!

    Sacraments or ordinances?

As you yourself have rightly said, it's the Triune Godhead dwelling within us, not 'merely' Christ, therefore this is not relevant to the issue of 'multiple Brides/ multiple Bodies'. There is of course only one Christ, Who has One Body, One Bride.

    Sacraments or ordinances?

None of these verses refer to Christ's Body or His Bride. Not sure what point you're trying to make by quoting them(?) Are you saying that Christ has multiple Brides, that He's a Mormon?

John MacArthur is addressing Catholic heresies

So you don't sin anymore? Wow! Not a Catholic myself, and I don't agree with the word 'punishment' in the definition, but my understanding of it is that, to the extent to which we are not fully transformed into the image of Christ per Rom 12:1-2 when we die, it is necessary for this process...

    Sacraments or ordinances?

Are we ever described in Scripture as Christ's Body as individuals? No!

    Er...not quite, again...

    Sacraments or ordinances?

No. There is one Bride, one Christ, one Body.

    Sacraments or ordinances?

Does Christ have more than one Body, then? How many 'Christ's Bodies' are there walking around?

My Journey Into The Catholic Church

Er...not quite. The will and grace of God are paramount in RC soteriology, not the will of man. Justification for RCs is by Christ, in Christ and by grace, faith and Godly works being the products of that grace when not resisted by man. Neither the faith nor the works are strictly speaking the...
