Soldiers are not allowed to think

CTB -- since you said that you expect irate replies from non-military; please remind us of your military experience. Today's military has more than just new-fangled equipment they have to deal with; they have policies and other guidelines that require them to think about a situation before...

    question on fundamental beliefs

Philip - good to see you on the board again ... but sorry to hear you're still having the issues with your daughter.

Additional Reasons People Leave The Church.

    "Like women do"? That's offensive.

Why do some Reformed/Calvinist "pastors" advocate unbiblical evangelism?

AMEN, BROTHER. Go be the mouth; and let the hands be the hands, and the feet be the feet. And rejoice that all three are contributing to the Kingdom.

can the natural man. a sinner, overcome the Flesh by His own works and deeds?

There's nothing wrong with that concept. From scripture we know that only those that believe will be saved; that many will not see heaven. So trying to present this as an argument against arminianism is a fallacy.

Do You See a definite satanic Inluence In Strident Homosexuality?

Y'all are talking past each other. Zaac isn't saying homosexuality is okay; he's saying it's a sin. Like my wife says, homosexuality is a sexual sin just like adultery and fornication. Y'all are saying it different ways, but you're all saying the same thing. Zaac's curious why we seem to harp...

ACA 'success' falls flat for White House, so ... class warfare?

Anybody seen any economists talking about the impact of this?

    "Obama Not Good at Governing"

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/cnn-former-wh-official-acknowledges-obamas-maybe-not-good-governing_773339.html As someone pointed out in a thread a few weeks back, this smacks of the "organizer vs. governor." Obama consistently appears to be confused by what's going on; and I can...

    Who Walks In The Light?

So in other words, you basically lied when you said you wished to search out the scriptures. You already have an answer; you're just hoping to lead others to the same conclusion. It's usually referred to as an "ulterior motive." So thanks anyway, but if you're not gonna be straight up with...

    Who Walks In The Light?

And yet - at least a half dozen people have said exactly that (the light is within every man, and we need to walk in the light....), but have been basically ignored rather than acknowledged.

Why do some Reformed/Calvinist "pastors" advocate unbiblical evangelism?

Well, now you're speaking out of both sides of your mouth. I originally asked the question because you said this: Now you say: My biggest concern with your original statement goes back to this and other threads where people have asked you about discipleship. If we go by your first statement...

    Will become a church member

Wow. General rule of thumb I've discovered over the years, *especially* when it comes to my wife (who, by the way, is listed right after our Christian walk--i.e., our relationship with God--in what I've come to realize is a list of priorities in Ephesians 4-6), is to always pretend she's...

    Who Walks In The Light?

Wait -- didn't you tell me a page or two ago that you didn't have a clue what it meant to walk in the light; yet here you're giving hints as to which scriptures we should look to for the answer? Do you know or not? Are you sincerely looking for an opportunity to search out the answer with...

Why do some Reformed/Calvinist "pastors" advocate unbiblical evangelism?

I didn't ask what reformed or WOTM authors thought of this passage; I asked what YOU thought of it.

Why do some Reformed/Calvinist "pastors" advocate unbiblical evangelism?

Evangelist - if you don't have me on ignore and can read this, several pages back I asked what you thought of how Philip worked with the Ethiopian. I would very much like to see your answer to that.

And yet, several people gave you answers and you indicated they were wrong. And we're apparently learning about Quakers....

Looking at military retirement and for advice

Jon - BEST thing you can do is attend a TAP class. Don't know if you'll be able to, with your remote status.... TOTALLY AGREE about the civilian life insurance; I did an analysis before my retirement, and for the last 3 years of a 25 year period, VGLI was going to cost me $900/month, as opposed...

can the natural man. a sinner, overcome the Flesh by His own works and deeds?

You're gonna have to help me out here. Are you saying that we can come to God of our own free will, or that God has elected His own?
