    More European Obama-bashing

Well, you can't have him - he's ours!

Conservative MEP socks it to Brown

I understand that this is doing the rounds in the US but, just in case you haven't caught him yet, this guy is brilliant (IMHO)!

    More European Obama-bashing

You're still better off than we are: here's a better view from Europe; this guy really tells it like it is!

Eating Red Meat May Shorten Life Span

C'mon, guys, everyone knows that posting on internet fora gives you cancer!

Trail of Blood? Truth or Fiction?

So? Just because some Catholics were bad and evil doesn't affect the issue as to whether their Church was theologically correct or in error. Some Southern Baptists were slave-owners in the 19th century and members of the KKK who lynched blacks in the 20th; that likewise doesn't invalidate...

    More European Obama-bashing

Then your Administration needs to ask itself some serious questions, because I fear that the UK now ranks amongst the countries who are 'not able'.

    More European Obama-bashing

There's a multi-layered feature to this story: 1. There is a question as to the extent to which individual western nations can keep on bailing out, fiscally stimulating and generally spending before attracting the unwanted attentions of the IMF. The received wisdom here is that Britain, for...

    Obama's Victory--A British view

When will you guys stop treating the Daily Heil as a reputable news source?

Trail of Blood? Truth or Fiction?

Your post also contains a presumption: that the RCC is and always has been apostate. Now, testing that presumption is perhaps a whole different conversation, and one which I suspect we are not going to resolve this side of the eschaton, but presumption it is nevertheless.

Eating Red Meat May Shorten Life Span

This is news?! Who issued this communique - the Department of the Blatantly Obvious? This doesn't mean you should give up red meat entirely, just eat a balanced diet and do plenty of exercise - the usual common sense stuff. In other news, bears in sylvan settings don't use public washrooms...

    More bonuses with our money

A simple (and therefore doubtless naive) suggestion: bonuses should only be paid in bank shares. That way, if the bank does well because you've done well, then your bonus is worth something; if it does badly because you and your colleagues have screwed up, then your bonus is worthless.

    More bonuses with our money

Posted by me on another thread: I note a Republican senator has called for banking bosses to either resign or commit suicide; whilst I sympathise with the emotion behind his outburst, I think he's perhaps being a tad harsh. Only a tad, though: I prefer the remedy for this sort of thing in...

Congress Invites Court Challenge With AIG Taxation Plan, Lawyers Say

I note a Republican senator has called for banking bosses to either resign or commit suicide; whilst I sympathise with the emotion behind his outburst, I think he's perhaps being a tad harsh. Only a tad, though: I prefer the remedy for this sort of thing in medieval times: (I am indebted to...

On the contrary I have cited Scripture. I can only conclude that you're choosing to miss the point

Trail of Blood? Truth or Fiction?

You're ignoring the elephant in the drawing room: the first Christians were Jews, with all the soteriological baggage that went with that.
  17. M

Trail of Blood? Truth or Fiction?

Oh, where to start? The fact that the first Christians were Jewish converts (Acts 2); the fact that Peter had to be convinced by God that the Gentiles were not unclean (Acts 10:11-16; 28); the astonishment and in some cases initial opposition to this from the rest of the Jerusalem congregation...

Trail of Blood? Truth or Fiction?

No, you're not a heretic - because you don't believe it, along with other aspects of Judaism, to be necessary for salvation. But the point is that the early Jerusalem Christians did believe that it was necessary to be a Jew in order also to be a Christian - they could not believe prior to...

Trail of Blood? Truth or Fiction?

Not at all; this was a development of doctrine and practice. Look at it this way: at Pentecost, the Church was a purely Jewish entity - all its males would have been circumcised and its male converts would have been circumcised Jews who in turn would have circumcised their male children. These...
