Why did JESUS curse the Fig tree?

Was it to settle the future once-saved-always-saved argument, with 'traditional' Baptists losing?

New Mexico Abolishes the Death Penalty

In case they haven't read the Constitution, the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery, contains an exception for "the punishment of a crime."

New Mexico Abolishes the Death Penalty

How is life in prison without the possibility of parole not, in fact, the death penalty?-- taking away their liberty and confining them till they're dead. However, I will be presumptuous and say you would argue that if evidence can be found that would show the conviction to be a mistake, the...

    Clergy collar

The collar and robe seem to me to be a residual of the clergy class, meaning more than just the teacher, preacher, and wine and bread blesser and giver-outer. They had a place in society, and in the UK they still do, with the 24 bishops and 2 arch-bishops entitled to their seats in the House of...

New Mexico Abolishes the Death Penalty

So now, let's see if New Mexico has any murders. Another thing they should get rid of is their unconstitutional flag-- a Zuni religous symbol.

Happy St Patricks Day from Ireland

My name is Irish, I know my paternal line came from County Cork, and I know our coat of arms, which has 3 whiskey mugs. But St. Patrick's Day has never had any meaning for me, as for anything to do with Pat or Eire. However, that was the day, 40 years ago, that I made my decision for Christ...

    Bad English In Thread Titles

Some of this differs from my learning... The Angles, Saxons, Jutes, and a few Frisians invaded Britain in the 5th century and especially began conquering the native Celts after the Romans abandoned the island. These Germanic tribes drove the Celts to the west and many fled Britain for Ireland or...

Do you believe that there has been millions and millions of years?

How is it that God warned Adam to not eat the fruit from the middle of the garden, for "in the day you eat it you will die;" yet he lived more than 800 years after the day he did eat it?

Do you believe that there has been millions and millions of years?

Don't we learn something new every day!... er, every 24 hours....er, every sunset-to-sunset... maybe all of them.

Then a day is not necessarily one complete rotation of the earth... is it?

Do you believe that there has been millions and millions of years?

in particular, arguing that if you are far enough north or south, a day-- when the sun disappears till it reappears again-- can be days, weeks, or months. Not in the least. Does the Bible define a day as (1)24 hours (1440 minutes), or (2)from setting of sun to setting of sun?

Do you believe that there has been millions and millions of years?

What it shows is that the sunset-to-sunset 'day' can be more than 24 hours (1440 minutes), or, after the summer solstice, then fewer than 24 hours. Therefore a day is not fixed at 24 hours. ed. And I specified my coordinates as another example; my 'day' is probably not the same as your 'day,'...
