    The Bomb - 8 Aug 45

Propaganda??? Did you miss the fact that I lived there for 33 years and speak and read the language fluently??? I've read many books about the nation in both Japanese and English. I've talked to dozens of Japanese personally about the war. Most agree that the A-bomb stopped the war. The...

    The Bomb - 8 Aug 45

This is well said, and all true. I've been to Okinawa and seen the cave headquarters of the Japanese leaders, and the cliff where the civilians were told to jump from.

    The Bomb - 8 Aug 45

As one who lived in Japan for 33 years, is fluent in the language (I've written books in Japanese), still has friends in the country, and knows the culture intimately, I disagree that they would have surrendered without the atomic bomb. The hard liners were planning to resist to the last...

    The Bomb - 8 Aug 45

As you know I'm sure, millions of civilian Chinese were killed by the Japanese. In the so-called "Rape of Nanking," the Japanese army surrounded the city and did their best to kill every last Chinese, military or civilian. During that time there were many, many individual vicious acts by the...

    The . . . good wine . . . .

Now you are finally answering factually rather than in generalizations.

    The . . . good wine . . . .

Why is it legalistic to avoid alcohol? I don't know of anyone who says that. Rather, what many say is that it is physically and psychologically dangerous to consume alcohol. Personally, I just say it can kill you: drunk driving, alcoholism, liver disease, etc. etc. That's not legalism.

    The . . . good wine . . . .

So you squeeze a grape (or stomp on it) and get grape juice, and then BAM, it immediately has alcohol? That seems to be what you are saying.

    The . . . good wine . . . .

Where do you get these percentages? How could new wine have 1-3% alcohol if it is freshly made? You are assuming things. Agreed. Where does the alcohol in new wine come from? I've mentioned the process of fermentation, which happens in grape juice by the wild yeast that occurs on grape skins...

Do some leftist socialist Democrats want to abolish borders and prisons?

Regarding whether or not Trump wants a third term and/or plans to run, here is a definitive article: Trump brushes off reporter question about running for third term in 2028: 'The law is very strong'

    The . . . good wine . . . .

Why would "new wine" have to be "about 3% ABV"? Where do you get that? I say that "new wine" was grape juice. It can only become alcoholic from the wild yeast on the grapes. Washing the grapes easily takes care of that.

    The . . . good wine . . . .

Actually, there were two semantic units for "grape juice" in Greek: gleukos (γλεῦκος) and "new wine" using oinos, which wa oinon neon (οἶνον νέον). Hebrew also has a semantic units for "new wine." which is tı̂yrôsh (ּירושׁ). So yes, there was such a thing as grape juice in Bible times. The...

Do some leftist socialist Democrats want to abolish borders and prisons?

I'm not a Trump apologist. I don't like how he insults people, his crudity, some of his policies, etc. (But I am certainly not a Democrat; their party is being taken over by Communists, etc., etc.) I simply respect the office of the president of the United States. I ministered in Japan for 33...

    The . . . good wine . . . .

Never seen that. Forgive me, but I don't see how these passages prove that grapes can contain alcohol. The alcohol occurs naturally by the wild yeast that is on the skin when the grapes are harvested. That doesn't add up to alcohol occurring inside the grape, IMO.

    The . . . good wine . . . .

Sorry, I don't get your meaning here.

Do some leftist socialist Democrats want to abolish borders and prisons?

Sorry, Vonnegut doesn't trump the usual English meaning. He was brilliant, but not enough to change the English language. Okay, I'm done laughing. You are serious about insulting me after complaining that I insulted you. That's hypocrisy. You, a random Internet denizen, say that I am nothing...

Do some leftist socialist Democrats want to abolish borders and prisons?

Your post 32: "You think awfully highly of yourself don't you?" Translation: you're bragging. "Pissant" refers to a certain human bodily function, vulgar in context. AI overview on Google: "A pissant is a vulgar slang word used as an insult for someone who is small, unimportant, or annoying."

Do some leftist socialist Democrats want to abolish borders and prisons?

So Novelist makes a statement, then tells me I have to prove his proposition when I disagree. Then he says I'm bragging, after which he brags about his novels and his banjo playing. And he accuses me of insulting him when I've only...well, okay, I mocked his posts. Then he calls me Vonnegut's...

Still laughing at this thread. Sorry, folks, I just can't help it. Confused

Do some leftist socialist Democrats want to abolish borders and prisons?

I'm insulting your posts, and you take it personally. Thin skin, anyone? Okay, claim I insult you, so then you insult me. Riiiiight. So you don't believe liberal and socialist views are political??? Weird. And I've not been in Japan for 12 years. I teach here in a Bible college and seminary...
