Both would mean the same if they were about the same subject. They are not the same subject One is elect to be a people unto God . The other is chosen to Salvation. You can't understand it because you are focused on your false Calvinism. You do not want to see the difference because your Calvinism has failed you in truth. Face it you'll feel better in the morning. By the way your Greek does not impress me. I can do the same with any Greek dictionary and I have,

So was Obed a Gentile? By Jew, do you mean descendant of Sarah, or Rebeka, or Leah, or Milpah, or Zilpah, or Rachel too or just Shua the Canaanite and Tamar? Was Gershom Jewish?
