Neither does the KJV. There is not one word anywhere in the KJV which says the KJV is the preserved word of God.
--------------------------------------------------

Nope, but the KJV IS THE PRESERVED WORD OF GOD for the english speaking people. It is the Holy Bible, and the very preserved words of God, and all of them, translated into the english language for english speaking people. The modern versions only give part of the words of God, and not the whole counsel of God. They are full of holes, and errors. One can either consider that God has preserved all of his words for us, or part of his words. I believe God has preserved all of his words, as he promised, which are the very words of the KJV. It just so happens to be called by many the King James Version, or the King James Bible. It might help many to get away from "labels" and start looking at the truth in this matter, to which are the very words of God.
Not some name attached to it.

Trotter,

This might seem harsh to you but,

--------------------------------------------------
But what you fail to see is that we (collectively) do not condemn or forsake the KJV (even with all the nonsense being spouted by many as to the condition of our salvation because of this). Most, if not all, use the KJV as a major part of their study material. But we also choose not to be blind.

In Christ,
Trotter
--------------------------------------------------

it is about "compromising" the truth and purity of God's words. It is about compromising with those who are in error, and who do not recognize the importance of the words of God. If any one is being blind in this situation, they are those who are turning a blind eye to the seriousness of this issue. It shows that many do not love the word of God, but are willing to compromise for sake of unity and the opinions of man. Not many seem to have the fear of the Lord anymore. Where is your fear of the Lord? Where is your love for the word of the Lord? If you loved the word of the Lord, you would stand against anyone, or anything that tried to take them away from you and others. You would be upset that there would be those who would sow doubt in one's mind as to what God has said. You would be upset that there would be those who say God is not a personal God, and that God would not, could not, and has not preserved every single word he spoke for those who are his in their prospective language.

Go ahead, and continue believing those that say God is powerless concerning his promises, and believe them who say that God never promised such a thing, but only promised to preserve those people and only preserved the "message". Go ahead, believe those who would rather stand for the weakening of the testimony of the very Lord Jesus Christ who has saved our wretched souls from hellfire. You are saved, and you have knowledge of the whole counsel of God from your use of the KJV, but not concerned one iota about others who have not, and are steered away from the whole counsel of God, thinking it is okay. Is it okay? Does God warn us to take away from, or add to his word is a serious thing?

Plain and simple, it is compromise and lacking in love for not only the word of the Lord, but for one another. You do condemn the word of God, when you approve of those things that have added to, or taken away from what God has said, preserved and provided for you in your own language, excussing them away as if it didn't make a difference. It does make a difference. God has given a strong testimony of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for our benefit, and for a reason. The fact that this testimony is weakened in the modern versions, shows that God's word was tampered with, and you should not want to touch it nor approve of it, but be warning of it. Instead many show their true colors, and approve of it and mark it off as unimportant. Tell that to Eve in the garden of Eden. Tell that to the Lord Jesus Christ himself, when he quoted what was written, to defeat satan while satan tried to tempt him. Tell that to the apostles who were dealing with those who would corrupt the word of God. Tell it to the Lord on judgement day.

Can you give us one verse of scripture to support your claim that "the KJV IS THE PRESERVED WORD OF GOD for the english [sic] speaking people?" Just one will do. Can you give us any evidence from any respectable source which proves "the KJV IS THE PRESERVED WORD OF GOD for the english [sic] speaking people?"

For claiming to be a smart man, you sure do not listen to anything a person has said. Like I said, come out of the "label" you place on people, and the word of God, and look at this issue as being the VERY WORDS OF GOD. Oh, is it only the message? Then please provide for me, scriptural support for your belief that every word of God is not important.

Once again you post an unsupported opinion. Are you admitting you have no evidence to support your opinion, and that it is just wishful thinking on your part? If you had a reason to believe the KJV was "THE PRESERVED WORD OF GOD for the english [sic] speaking people" you would post it. But, the fact that you keep avoiding posting any evidence indicates to me that you don't have any.

Now, if you have some evidence post it, but don't continue posting the mindless blather. In case nobody ever told you, mindless blather is not evidence.

Skan,

How bout giving me the evidence that all versions are God's words and give scriptural support for this belief. Please include the scriptures where God tells us that only his message is important, and not the words. Then please explain to me, how one is then to know whether or not God has said something or not. Are the last verses of Mark God's words, or not? How is it that you determine this, among many other things. If all versions are God's words, why do they all differ from one another? Is God the author of confusion? Please tell me, where can you find God's words of truth today, and believe them without any doubt whatsoever that they are indeed the very preserved words of God? How have you come to this conclusion/understanding? I don't want to hear, I prefer this one. God's words of truth are not something to be prefered. They are God's eternal and living words of truth, not a preference. So please tell me, where are God's words found today for the English speaking people in America?

2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"
Please include the scriptures where God tells us that only his message is important, and not the words.
Why must you always lie about my position? I have never claimed only the message was important. I have consistently said God inspired the words.
Then please explain to me, how one is then to know whether or not God has said something or not.
If it is in the bible, God said it.
Are the last verses of Mark God's words, or not?
Yes, as I have clearly stated in the thread dealing with that issue.
How is it that you determine this, among many other things.
The last 12 verses of Mark is attested to by every Greek manuscript except 3. The evidence is overwhelming in favor of the verses.
If all versions are God's words, why do they all differ from one another?
Some are translated from different texts and some are translated using a different translational technique and some are translated by different translators
Is God the author of confusion?
No, which is why I oppose the confusion of KJVOism.
Please tell me, where can you find God's words of truth today, and believe them without any doubt whatsoever that they are indeed the very preserved words of God?
In the bible.
How have you come to this conclusion/understanding?
Via a living, informed faith.
I don't want to hear, I prefer this one.
I don't care what you want to hear. You don't want to hear the truth. You have ignored the truth ever since you came into these forums
God's words of truth are not something to be prefered [sic].
Really? You mean you don't prefer God's words of truth? What do you prefer? Lies?
They are God's eternal and living words of truth, not a preference.
I know. What's your point?
So please tell me, where are God's words found today for the English speaking people in America?
In the bible.

If you don't know the answers to all these questions you keep asking maybe you should enroll in a good 3rd grade Sunday School class.

Very nice double talk. Kind of like the cat chasing its tail.

Fist you said that English was the word of God and then later you mentioned that it was a translation. Which is it? The word of God was written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek

You cannot know anything about translation to speak like that. Just ask anyone who translates any language into another. There is always loss from one language to another. You don’t seem to remember that truth very well.

He did? What a judgment coming from a position of such ignorance. If perhaps you would spend more time reading, studying and listening you might learn more than you do now. If you do not you will not know any more than you do now which is evry little.

Michelle, there is a difference in claiming you are smart and showing that you are smart. Skan has done a fair job in the later and I suggest that you read his answers because he has answered every single question that you have put to him. You are letting blind faith prevent you from seeing the truth.

Let me explain it this way. You claimed that it is difficult to explain something that you simply believe by faith. God has given us plenty of proof in the form of prophecy, documentation and historical evidence to show that He exists.

If Skan were to accept blind truth like you are telling him to, then he might as well accept Joseph Smith's follower's faith. Don't think they do not believe their faith any less than you believe your faith.

Have you figured out yet what makes the difference between your faith, Joseph Smith's follower's faith and Skan's faith? If you will think about that and answer it, I think you will see the truth glaring you right in the eyes.

Let me say something about "blind" faith.

It is the difference in having the faith to sit in a chair and knowing it will hold you up; or having the faith to not look behind you, sit down and have faith a chair will be there in the first place. Nine times out of ten, the chair won't be there. That's blind faith and it is not infallable.

Phillip,

You asked me if I understood the differences between my faith, Skan's faith, and Joeseph Smiths faith.

First of all, I do not know what Joeseph Smith has anything to do with this issue at hand. He believed in a different Jesus and a different gospel. His faith has nothing to do with this topic at hand, nor can he be compared to it.

My faith in this, as you call blind faith, is in God and His promises to preserve his words for every generation. This is scripture, and this is what God has said and this is evidenced what he has done. My faith in this is not blind, but supported with scripture and history.

Skan's faith in this is in his own wisdom, and man's wisdom over and above that of the promises of God. If he truly believed the scriptures (to which he has claimed this scripture is not saying that God would preserve his words, and must go back to the Hebrew to inform of this - thereby relying upon his own wisdom, and encouraging me to rely on his understanding) he would then reject those things that have altered God's words of truth - modern versions based upon the critical text and anything that gave credence to them instead of supporting them.

Joeseph Smith's faith in this is irrelevant to this topic at hand. We are talking about faith in the preservation of God's words.

It is hurtful to me to say the least, that you would compare me, who loves the Lord Jesus Christ and his word of truth, to a man that denied the Lord Jesus Christ and believed in a different Jesus and a different gospel. Is this your intention Phillip? To hurt me? If it was, then you succeeded. Not because it is true, but because you should know that I am a christian and that I dearly love the Lord Jesus Christ. It hurts that a fellow christian would think that of someone who is a fellow christian and it seems to me as if you doubt whether I am a christian or not.

Michele:

You stated some facts about Joseph Smith. It didn’t take the Holy Spirit to reveal that to you. It is done by simply reading the truth of the Bible and comparing it to another. Non-believers can see those differences.

Acts 17:11 says, “ Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.’

I don’t think anyone is asking you to put your faith in them but to check out the information. I don’t believe you have done a very thorough job of that. The subject is vast. For you to evaluate the Greek of another and admit that you nothing about Greek is quite a statement.

When you wrote about SKAN it reminded me of Romans 2:1, “Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.”

Having knowledge does not mean you don’t trust God or have godly wisdom.

God never preserved His words in a translation but in the original languages. By doing this the original standard is available for any country of any language to translate from. The manuscripts are not KJV.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the bible.

--------------------------------------------------

Thank you for answering my questions Skan, I really do appreciate it. Now please answer to which "Bible" are you refering? Do you consider the NIV the Bible? Do you consider the KJV the Bible? Do you consider all those claiming to be "Bibles" to be God's words? If so, how then do you determine, without a doubt that they are the very preserved words of God for you, if they differ? How can you say and believe such a thing? You either have all of God's words, or you don't. Oh, that's right, you refer back to the Hebrew and Greek in order to make your determination, right? If not, please explain to me, which version is right, since they all differ. Which one is God's words of truth? What is it you tell the common person, who doesn't know Greek and Hebrew how they can be sure? Do they have to rely upon you and your knowledge of Hebrew and Greek? PLease explain to me, which Bible is the words of God that you can trust they are God's very words and not doubt that he has said it. If you believe all scripture is of God, then how do you determine which ones are, and which ones aren't in all the conflicting versions? How do you propose the common person now makes this determination?

--------------------------------------------------
Really? You mean you don't prefer God's words of truth? What do you prefer? Lies?
--------------------------------------------------

No I do not prefer God's words, I BELIEVE THEM. They are not something to be prefered but acknowledged and believed, lived, taught, etc. God has said them and preserved them, and they do not differ. They are His words, and there is none other. Preference doesn't even come into the equation. God's words are settled, and eternal, and they certainly do not differ. What you do is give your approval on those versions that have altered God's words of truth, which you and everyone else knows, God has warned us not to do. You prefer the KJV over that of the other versions. What exactly does this mean Skan, if its not your approval on those versions that have altered God's pure words of truth, and sown doubt?

Michelle,
This is the exact same thing you have been asking us to do in regards to your faith.
--------------------------------------------------

Phillip,

You are misunderstanding. The whole topic of "faith" is concerning the faith one has in the promises of God concerning his words. This is what is being talked about. This is what I have faith in - God's promise of preservation of his words. This is what you deny, and lack faith in. This is what cannot be proven, to which is what the origional discussion was all about. This is faith in what the scriptures have said concerning God's words. My faith is scripturally supported. Your's is not. This is the difference. Because your faith that God would not preserve his words, and every single one of them for you, is based upon your "own understanding and wisdom" and not that of the scriptures. If any one here is guilty of "blind faith" it is those who deny the promises of God regarding his words.

No Michelle, it is not my intentions to compare you to Joseph Smith. There is no intention to hurt you, nor to even question your salvation. I have no doubt in my mind that you are saved. THis has never been an issue between us and I hope you know that by now.

Let's move this away from you and I'll put myself in your place and maybe you can understand.

Let us assume that I interpret a scripture differently than others do. I believe with all my heart that God has led me to believe that interpretation. (Let us assume that I may or may NOT be right -- at this point, nobody knows--just for our example.) Now, I come up to Skan and I say, look Skan, I want you to believe what I believe because that has been revealed to me by God.

I think we both agree that Skan would not be very bright if he accepted my interpretation basing it on the fact that I tell him that God told me that it was true.

Now, how does Skan go about determining if I am correct? The first thing he must do is go to those documents which are closest to the original autographs to make a determination if they say what I tell him it says. He has no other choice, because he is reading the same Bible I am, but he is seeing something different and he believes God has told him that he is right.

By looking at original manuscripts that the King James was translated from, he is capable of reading that Greek and determining what it says.

I sincerely believe my interpretation has been correct all of these years, but I cannot expect Skan to accept the fact that I tell him that God told me it was true any more than I can expect him to believe that one of the Mormon missionaries believes their belief. This is NOT comparing me to a Mormon missionary, but it shows how a falacy could easily be made on Skan's part if he were to accept what I tell him on blind faith.

You are interpreting the "preserve them" to mean "words". Skan is going to the closest thing he has to the original manuscripts and also the underlying text to the KJV. He is even telling you that he believes the TR to be more accurate than the Alexandrian texts thereby nullifying your argument about "words/verses" left out of the MVs because they used Alexadrian texts. Skan is going to the original documents that are underlying the KJV, by agreeing with you that those particular documents (the TR) are closest to the originals. Then he is translating it.

You, yourself said the underlying documents to the KJV were what is important, that if a GOOD translation were made from the TR you would accept it. Skan is giving you the translation and you are not accepting it.

If you stick to the King James only, then you can also see where the word "them" does not have to mean "individual words". Taking a look at an MV, you will find that it may even interpret this more clearly.

God gave us brains; He tells us to question sources and doctrines; He does not expect us to believe something blindly. That is why Skan and other scholars study these issues. In your statements about Skan, you are putting him in the same category that you claimed I put you---that is---questioning your motives and questioning your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Just because Skan is a better scholar does not necessarily make him right, but he has a much better chance of proving something to us if we open our minds and look at the evidence he is laying before us.

For years, Christians (good Christians) argued that the Earth sitting in the center of the universe and when a scientist proved that we orbited the Sun, they could not accept it. Why? Because of a "preconceived notion" that we had to be in the center of God's creation. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that.

Again, you have a book that was last modified about 125 years ago. If you, must accept 100% word-for-word translation, you must throw out every other King James version since 1611. Why? You said so yourself 2% change is the same as 2% rat poison. There have been changes made. The KJV we hold today is probably much more accurate than the earlier printings.

In reality each one of the original KJ's hold the Word of God, even though there may be typos and translational errors, and possibly even background "textual" errors.

gb,

God has promised he would preserve his words for EVERY GENERATION, and HE has also told us that man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDETH OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD. This is scripture. No where do I read that God would ONLY preserve them in Hebrew and Greek languages. God clearly states that he would preserve his words FOR EVERY GENERATION, and not only that, but HIS WORDS SHALL NEVER PASS AWAY. God's words are eternal, and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. God has preserved his words, and for ALL WHO BELIEVE IN HIM, and for ALL LANGUAGES, since God is creator of all, including languages. God has preserved his words and provided them to all people of all languages, for all ages. It is sad to see so many making the Hebrew and Greek languages an idol. Little children, keep yourself from idols.

Phillip,

I cannot believe you are now telling me, that now because someone has knowledge and understanding of the Hebrew and Greek language, which also can be interpreted in different ways, much more freely than in our english language, has now become my authority in what the interpretation is of the plain english language? This is highly circular, and dangerous at best. Christians for hundreds of years believed, and still do believe that Psalm to mean EXACTLY WHAT THE TEXT SAYS. Read the context Phillip. The context explains the verse. NOt only the context, but other scriptures concerning God's words affirm it. We are commanded to rightly divide the word of truth. It is not some private interpretation that I personally have regarding this. YOu all twist the scriptures to make it say something it doesn't in order to prove the lie you believe. Then you must refer back to the origional Greek and Hebrew languages, to confirm your already false belief, which is contrary to the whole of scriptures themselves. Please do not tell me, that I have my own private interpretation of this verse of scripture, for this is not true. YOu are all making up a new understanding of this verse of scripture in order to prove the importance of the very words of God are not true. IT is contrary to the whole cannon of scriptures. You are not rightly dividing the word of God for your interpretation, and you are not looking at the context of the passage either. You are guilty of wresting the scriptures.
