What do Anabaptists and Roman Catholics have in common? Firstly, they both have frameworks of Continuing Extra-Biblical Revelation. Secondly, they both oppose the doctrine of sola fide, anding to faith an element of works-righteousness.
It's the continuing extra-biblical revelation which I'm interested in discussing here.
Is the canon sealed or not? That is the question.
Continuing Extra-Biblical Revelation is more limited among Catholics than you suggest. What do Anabaptists and Roman Catholics have in common? I don't meddle in their lives. If they are convinced they are in the will of God who am I to interfere?
My oldest son is C. He goes out on the street handing out tracts,
I never bothered to ask him why as a C he handed out tracts.
So - what do you make of calvinists going off to be missionaries Brian?
Anyway I'm going off to bed myself - and that voluntarily of my own free will (I think).

They were obviously poor examples of Calvinists.
Are you denying the spiritual gift of prophesy?Yes, so that any utterance from a man preceded with, "God told me" should be promptly disregarded, unless of course, he is reading from one of those texts, that is.
There is no longer a spiritual gift of prophesy. It, along with the others, passed away around the turn of the first century. Are you denying the spiritual gift of prophesy?

It is called Christian understanding, and illumination. It is what happens when you reject the cult started by a brain damaged woman and just believe the bible.Creative writing... don't you just love it??
No, simply Christian. I do not get into all the different labels. Truth is truth. I learn , and investigate, dogmas, doctrines, interpretations, visitations, ex.... If there are no contradictions to the foundation of scripture I accept it as truth. Denominations are too quarrelsome and confusing. Christianity to me is not that complicated and there should not be division in doctrinal beliefs. Definitely not Christ's plan. The division He is about is separating the wheat from the weeds all this other nonsense is the devil's confusion.SDA?
To all of thee above, in which you were addressing, God has not rendered us defenseless and ignorant.Creative writing... don't you just love it??
Is it the job of Calvinism to squash the gifts of the spirit? They were obviously poor examples of Calvinists.
Yet there are multiple examples found in scripture giving instruction to those with the spiritual gift of prophesy. Why would those instructions be given if it would no longer exist? There is no longer a spiritual gift of prophesy. It, along with the others, passed away around the turn of the first century.
What exactly is your understanding of prophesy? How would you define it? From my understanding it's simply speaking on behalf of God. Prophets were not fortune tellers, they were simply messengers relaying a message that God gave them. I am charismatic because I believe all the gifts of the spirit are alive and well. That includes prophesy and speaking in tongues (people speaking actual languages they did not know) . I have seen them and experienced them first hand.It is called Christian understanding, and illumination. In my experience (50+ years) in my walk with the LORD there are many many flavors of calvinism.
It's kind of like dispensationalists - Heinz 57 Varieties (at least).
Not a criticism (this time) just a statement of fact. BB is ample evidence thereof.
