You know this debate has been going on as long as I have been here... I have heard at one time it was a Social Security Cards, then it was scanners in store and now it is a so called chip... A lot on here think it is a literal mark but I tend to go with spiritual and not with a mark of technology and I will leave it at that... But I want to tell you a story about a friend of my wife and I.

In March it will be two years since our friend Red lost his wife... Now men and women lose their spouses everyday but its not that he did... It is how... Red and his wife Estelle live in Washington State and she was diagnosed with progressive Alzheimer's... It was the rainy season and they lived near a river and were both up in age, and decided they would take their dog for a walk... They were ready to go but because of the inclement cold rainy weather Red went upstairs to grab their coats but when he returned, his wife and dog were gone... So he went to the raging river to look but neither Estelle or the dog were found.

He looked around everywhere for her but to no avail... So he went to their sons' house who lived nearby and they both looked for her... Not only did they not find her their wasn't any sign of the dog either... They had both disappeared... The neighborhood hunt turned into town hunt, then city, then state, then state to state... It was all over the news... Estelle and the dog are still missing to this day... This tragedy has turned Red's world and the friend and family of this man upside down... Now to the chip, if Estelle would have had a chip implanted in her body (maybe wrist or somewhere else) then maybe they could have found her... Maybe that is in the future, not for evil but for good... Why is it that technology is by some considered bad?... This board that we access by our computer is a good site where we can discuss Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with others but it can also be used to access other dark and evil sites... It is not technology it is the purpose of the one using it... Mark of the beast what is it?... Speculate all you want the Lord is the only one that knows the answer... Brother Glen:)

Interesting thought, but I believe implantable chips are like knives - they can be used for good or evil, depending on the chip's content & who's reading it.

I tend to go with a physical mark cuz the other Scriptures describing the issuing of the mark are literal. But, as you said, only GOD knows right now.

In any case, it'll be duplicate-proof, whatever it is.

So you are saying that is what it will be like when you are raptured and post-tribbers are left behind?

Not trying to be condescending to Tyndale 1946, but another reason I believe the mark will be physical is that it must be present to legally do business in the beast's reign.

What about the A Mils? The ones really shocked will be the full Preterists!

And you will be in shock too when I'm sitting in my Mansion in Heaven, after the resurrection watching you all play your Millennial games... But you can come join me after, what is it? 1,000 years!... Brother (basking in the presence of the Lord) Glen:Laugh

No, they didn't. they declared themselves VICARS of God.

The definition of 'vicar' in English is 'representative', from the Latin vicarius (substitute).

They did read a history of them.
Vicarius in Latin is the same as Anti in Greek. By calling himself Vicar of Christ he is actual;ly calling himself Antichrist,

Not ACTUALLY. The term vicarius christii in the RCC meant "subbing for Christ", or in place of, speaking for Christ". That's only one meaning for anti. The commonest-used meaning was/is for "against or opposite".(anti-war, antimatter, etc.)

And the TRUE antichrist will NOT acknowledge ANY god other than himself, while giving lip service to a "god of fortresses". he will certainly not acknowledge the REAL God. OTOH, every pope has acknowledged God!

And NO pope has issued any marka the beast nor entered a temple in Jerusalem & declared himself God.

Remember, the TRUE AC MUST meet EVERY Scriptural criterion about the antichrist/beast EXACTLY, TO THE LETTER! No pope has ever come close to that! While a pope may become the beast's sidekick, the false prophet, none has been the AC since the AC hasn't yet come!

Someone probably already has said that the tradition of calling the Pope The Anti-Christ dates back to the Reformation when Pope Leo X put a price on the head of Martin Luther.

You're more-right than I was in saying the "papacy=antichrist" thingie began with the Westminster Confessions. I researched the subject a little deeper & found it had actually begun in the 11th century in several places in Europe. But Luther was the first PROMINENT person with a large audience/readership to apply that label to the whole papacy.

While I strongly disagree with Dr. David Reagan on his belief of the KJVO myth, I read an excellent review he did about calling the papacy the antichrist. He said that many individual popes were ACs, for example, the current one, who, in his address of a Joint Session of the US Congress, never come close to mentioning Jesus. And he reminds us that no pope has ever come close to ruling the world, ever entered a temple in Jerusalem, ever issued anything that could be construed as a "marka the beast", nor had a miracle-working sidekick.

I agree with Dr. Reagan that many popes have been antichrists, but none have been "the beast", nor is the papacy itself "the beast", as Scripture indicates "the beast" will be ONE MAN and his empire.

Thank you!

As a side note, the medieval Christians' calling the Pope The Anti-Christ proves that they did not think that the Great Tribulation had happened yet. Bad news for Preterists, huh? :Cool

Yes, that's PART of the bad news for prets, as many prophesied events they SAY have already happened, have simply NOT yet happened, & they cannot supply one quark of **EVIDENCE**, Scriptural or from secular history showing they have happened!
