There are two types of Jews today. Both are legitimate descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

The Ashkenazim are Jews that maintain the Israel/Palestine traditions of Judaism. They tend to be the European Jews.

The Sephardi are Jews who maintain the Babylonian traditions of Judaism. They tend to be of middle eastern or north African descent. Many of them moved into Spain and Portugal as early as 500AD.

Just because they have mixed bloodlines does not mean they are not Jews.
Israel accepts Ashkenazim as true Jews.

Theoretically , Abrahamic blood line Jews are called Sephardic or Sephardim and/or Mizrachim

My maternal ancestry is Jewish and I thought we were Askenazi but 23andme says no.

However my maternal great grandmother was documented Jewish so we are probably Sephardic or Miizrachim heritage.
23and me cannot definitively ID Sephardic but the N. African (Alexandrian) marker indicates Sephardic or Mirachim in our case.

By the time I came along the Jewish heritage had been completely lost and unknown to us (for the most part) until my sister began a family tree search.

Just saying - you never know.

One thing is for sure - God knows. Besides if we are saved what difference does it make apart from family parlor talk.

God says all of israel, including the Jews, will be sifted among all nations.

While the jews are still distinct, there are few nations that don't have any Jews today. And while the other tribes of Israel have lost their national ID for now, they're known to GOD. And He will keep His promise, of course.

I believe God kept the Jews distinct for the reason they fell into idolatry even worse than the rest of Israel did, even taking up the idols of Assyria, babylon, Persia, and Greece. Remember, many of them took up the "mystery, Babylon" religion of Nimrod & Semiramis by Jeremiah's time. Remember the symbolic Scriptural story of Aholah & Aholibah, two sisters. The older took up harlotry, and the younger, even though seeing the punishment received by her sister, took up worse harlotry & thus reaned more-severe punishment. the sisters, of course, represent Israel and Judah, and harlotry represents idolatry. I believe the descendants of the ancient ten tribes have fared better over the centuries than the Jews have. For example, they didn't face the nazi holocaust.

But God says He's gonna restore the WHOLE House of Israel, which includes all 12 tribes, and for Him to do that, they MUST exist. I "take" God at His word, and fully believe the descendants of all 12 tribes are alive on earth right now.

Paul says Jesus is Abraham's seed, not the unbelieving Jews Galatians 3:16. Matthew's use of Hosea reveals that Jesus IS Israel.

“When Israel was a child, then I loved him, And called my son out of Egypt.” (Hosea 11:1)

There is also the "seed" of Abraham, which is a different word than "children".

There's a false doctrine going around that there are no actual physical Jews, descendants of Judah, Benjamin, or Levi, left. One branch of this doctrine says those who claim to be Jews are actually "Ashkenazim". Yes, there ARE Ashkenazim masquerading as Jews, but there are also many REAL Jews. Otherwise, Scripture would be incorrect, as God said He would restore both Judah and Israel , make them one nation again, & make them great.

Yes, GOD prophesied the rise of the Ashkenazi., and He also spoke of their "fate", those who don't accept Christ, that is -

9 Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.

So, God WILL separate the REAL Jews from the Ashkenazim when the time comes. Right now, it's hard to do as most Jews have lost their genealogies. However, a good number can trace theirs back to Roman days when the Ashkenazi were a small minority.

If circumcision no longer makes one a physical member of Israel, unbelievers are not Israel. Judaism = religion = Jews practice it = not biblical Jews or biblical Judaism.

There are ohysical descendants of Abraham in Modern israel, and the saved one are also his spiritual descendants!
