I think that Hades refers to the grave in this instance. Before Christ rose from the dead, I don't believe anyone actually went to Heaven, but to "Abraham's Bosom", sort of a holding place. This is where both David and his infant son were during this time.
From 1 Thes 4:16 and the
dead in Christ shall rise first:
For if we have been planted together in the
likeness of his death, we shall be (vi Fut vxx 1 Pl) also
in the likeness of
his resurrection: Rom 6:5 Now if we
be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall (vi Fut Act 1 Pl) also live with him: Rom 6:8
Is dead in Christ a conditional state?
and that he was carried away by the messengers to
the bosom of the Abraham. Abraham, the father of the faithful. From Heb 11:13 These all
died in faith,
not having received the promises, ---- Dead in a conditional, state. Not having received the promises.
Gal 3:29 And if ye
be Christ's, then are

faith,
received not the promise: God having provided some
better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
What better thing? Verse 35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain
a better resurrection:
and the
dead in Christ shall rise first:
Translate Hades grave if you like but it will still be Hades and the soul David is still there, still in the bosom of the Abraham, still dead in faith.Heb 11:39,40 And these all, having obtained a good report through
faith,
received not the promise: God having provided some
better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
Acts 2:31 NKJV “he, foreseeing this, spoke
concerning the resurrection of
the Christ, that
His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.
29 “Men
and brethren, let
me speak freely to you of the patriarch
David, that he is both
dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to
this day.
His soul is in Hades, and he saw corruption. He went to his infant son.
