soniclight.com

While not exactly "Freeware," this is a site with .pdf files of commentaries of each book of the Bible, which can be downloaded one book at a time as needed.

http://soniclight.com/

These are the seminary notes of Dr. Thomas Constable of Dallas Seminary. The notes are very thorough, and amount to an in-depth commentary. Very helpful. His classes are among the most popular at the seminary, I really enjoyed him.

I've used Constables work the last couple books that I studied through and found them okay. There are a number of other older commentaries around that you can download also. Just google for the author and snoop around a little. I found Barnes Notes and Gill as well as Henry.

One good thing about Adobe reader and .pdf files, is the latest version allows you to save a .txt version which can be used much easier on pocket and handheld computers  (That is how I used Constable. I do most of my study on a handheld NEC mobilepro 880.)

Along the lines of Dallas - http://www.bible.org has a ton of studies by other Dallas men that you can download also. Their Net Bible has a ton of good notes built into the Bible as well that are quite usable. (Also use it on my handheld :)

I love the widgets! Thanks Trotter!

Now, I have noticed that I've got a couple of upside down pix. My son's senior prom is upside down right now :D

Whoops, folks, disregard on that browser recommendation. Turns out it's not so good after all.

QUICKNOTE

Handy little gadget I surfed across last night.

Often you do not need an advanced text processor but a virtual scrapbook to quickly write down an occasional thought, a plan for the day or an Internet URL....With Quicknote, it does not matter which programs you are currently using; whenever you want to write something down that comes to mind, just 'wake up' Quicknote by touching a small line on the top of your screen with the mouse or by pressing shortcut keys. In its resizable window you can jot down your notes and organize them in categories or even sketch small drawings.

Still, this tiny tool has more possibilities than it seems on the first thought! Beneath the normal text functions, it can convert units, let you directly access frequently run programs, encrypt secret texts, change the system volume by hotkeys, manage windows tasks, and even send notes through a network. It has also a powerful reminding tool, which can remind you of your notes at certain times, run programs or shutdown automatically your PC.
