If you men are going to start wearing dresses, then you are going to have to start putting a little "sugar" in your walk.
Welcome to Baptist Board, a friendly forum to discuss the Baptist Faith in a friendly surrounding.

The communists did take over America but that is fodder for another thread.swaimj said:You know the old saying "If you see 10 problems coming down the road nine will fall in the ditch before they get to you. I just can't see myself sitting around worrying about this. I grew up in fundamentalism and I remember when we were all obsessed about the communists taking over America and killing all the Christians. That didn't happen and I'm sorry I wasted time worrying about it.
We've already had this discussion Tiny. For your edification, I will retract the word Laodicean and will ask that lukewarm be used instead.tinytim said:Is there a church still in Laodicea?
I bet the women there wore robes.. as did the men.
Why are you bringing up a church that is almost 2000 yrs old?
Surely you don't believe that the churches in Rev. = the church age, do you?
You have no proof for that... it was invented by an overactive imagination.
What did, (or do... if they still exist) the women in Laodicea wear?
Probably a garment that would look like a long dress today.

If I thought that it would be edifying and not used against me, I would be glad to do so. However, there is far too much attacking of the messenger that goes on on this board and I would prefer we keep it to doctrinal discussion based on scripture.swaimj said:Rufus said
Are you saying that you never struggle with sexual temptation at all? Wow! If you were engaged in these things in the past and now you do not struggle with them, that is great! Perhaps you would be more effective if you shared your struggle and encouraged others in their struggle. Perhaps you could share some of the biblical passages that God used to give you victory in your life. This would be preferable to your use of words and language that can stir up other's passions and cause them to fall.

I honestly don't think it will be the norm - NONE of the men I know - saved or unsaved - would be caught dead in a skirt!! LOL!
And I did not accuse you of saying you lost sleep over it. Go back and read what I said.Brother, I did not say I was losing any sleep over it, did I?
You never thought about it, yet, you have come to this conclusion so quickly? You probably should take some more time to think about it? I never even gave it a thought before I read through this thread. After reading through this thread, I definately see it as inevitable.
Men's dresses? That is an oxymoron. I can't imagine such a thing. In 1865, President Lincoln was shot while wearing a black suit which was tailored by Brookes Brothers. Today, 141 years later, that suit is still a best-seller for Brookes Brothers. If the cultural style for men has changed that little in 141 years, I don't expect to see mainstream American culture change to dresses for men in my lifetime, my son's, my grandson's, or ever! What will be your argument against men in men's dresses? Once it becomes acceptable, what will be the biblical argument against it?
You plan to be pregnant for 10 years and you're worried about other men wearing dresses?!?!? It may be perfectly normal for a man to wear a dress when my Grandson is born. I am not expecting him for about 10 years.
Yes it is but thanks for showing us the level of thinking that is going on on this thread. The communists did take over America but that is fodder for another thread.
No one on this thread is defending cross-dressing. The scriptures clearly speak against it. But, frankly, I think that your fears that American society is being taken over by sissies is absurd. There has always been an element of effiminate men in any society. It is less than 10 percent; far less, in fact. Always has been. Always will be. As long as the vast majority of men have testosterone in the blood it always will be. God made men that way.Wow, it goes on and on. What I'm finding is that there is indeed a growing number of men who desire to be unshackled from the dress of their sex and free to let it hang out in a skirt. But I'm sure you have a good scriptural reason why they shouldn't do it
What was the percentage of effeminate men in Sodom?swaimj said:And James Newman

Aren't they called robes? We see plenty of Muslims in those over here. Personally I think we should all wear the shalwar kameez, defintely the most modest form of clothing there is.Blammo said:Using the same logic - "Women's pants are made for women, therefore it is okay for a woman to wear them. It is not the attire of a man."
Do some of you not see how, at some point in the future, we will see men's dresses. What will be your argument against men wearing men's dresses?
Well, when this thread gets tired, perhaps you will demonstrate to me what plank of the communist manifesto has not been implemented in America.swaimj said:Rufus said

It is likely safe to say that all would agree about the characteristics of a male cross-dresser. It would be some semblance of a man wearing a dress, and/or high heels, and/or ear rings, etc.No one on this thread is defending cross-dressing. The scriptures clearly speak against it.
