Proverbs 31:17:
"She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms."
Care to make any more incorrect statements?

Whoa Rufus! When did I EVER say anything about it being ok for women to show their thighs? I said pants covered more up. Do you really expect women to wear dresses when we mow the yard or clean out the gutters? I do most of the "MAN" work at my house because my husband works such long hours. Yeah, I really need to be up on a ladder cleaning out the gutters in a dress! What Biblical argument do you have for women showing their thighs?

Here we are 25 pages and no one has changed their minds. It seems some are carrying their view to the ridiculous and the orginator of the thread has been removed. Might I suggest this be closed as it clearly has little to no redeeming value.

I don't necessarily care if this thread is closed or not but what is your motivation for desiring it to be closed versus say...ignoring this thread and moving on to the next one? What redeeming value do you believe you added to the thread by accusing "some of carrying their view to the ridiculous"?
I will concede your point if you concede that she doesn't do it like a man.rbell said:Touche'. I mis-typed my "Breeches" search. My bad, I stand corrected.
However: The assertion was made, rufus, that "in scripture, a woman does not gird up her loins." In Proverbs 31, she does.

Yea, but look how much the neighborhood men would come over to offer to hold the ladder.Whoa Rufus! When did I EVER say anything about it being ok for women to show their thighs? This discussion has gone way beyond the ridiculous.
I don't know if anyone ever changes their mind on anything but you have a "lively" debate with a whole lot participating and that is what you need on BB, not a bunch of dead threads that no one visits. As long as everyone stays civil then I say let it alone.Rufus,
Have you seen anyone change their minds? And yes some of the statements that have been made are ridiculous. I did not accuse anyone personally, the reader can figure that out for themselves. If you don't care if this thread is closed then your opening question to me is moot.
Bro Tony
Accept for their words, I am incapable of seeing the minds of others. I have no knowledge of all of the people that have viewed this thread. The only real relevant data available, is that there have been 2,726 views in approximately 30 hours, the next closest active thread has around 1,200 and that was created three days ago. Seems like there is quite a bit of interest regarding this topic. You nor I, have assurance of the number of people represented in those views, nor do we have assurance that any of those people would respond to this thread to alert us to whether or not they have, in fact, changed their minds. Much of my worldview has been established by reading and participating in message boards. While I have changed my mind on many issues, it was rare that there were instant changes, for it required additional prayer and study to determine whether or not the views expressed, matched up with the whole counsel of God. Bottom line, we have no real evidence of how the words in this thread are impacting people whether now or later.Bro Tony said:Rufus,

In your opinion, some of the statements that have been made are ridiculous. In my opinion the action of calling other people's doctrinal beliefs "ridiculous", is ridiculous. By my own definition I have now made a ridiculous statement, you may now call my beliefs on the issue of what is ridiculous, "ridiculous" with a little more authority to do so.And yes some of the statements that have been made are ridiculous. I did not accuse anyone personally, the reader can figure that out for themselves.
It may be moot to you but I am still curious as to your motivation but of course you're under no obligation to answer. If you don't like the thread you can move on, if you don't like the free exchange of ideas relative to a topic that others are apparently very interested in, you can promote the closure of the thread. Having no better answer, I suspect that this is your motivation. If you don't care if this thread is closed then your opening question to me is moot.
I understand the joke, but are you aware of the number of women in those days whose skirts caught on fire from barn lanterns and wood stoves? Women died because of those skirts.Blammo said:
