Bill Clinton: "Barack Obama is ready to be president of the United States."

That was when he still had a chance at being nominated for president. If Senator McCain chooses Mitt Romney to be his running mate then all of the negative things that Romney said about McCain during the primaries that are the opposite of what he is saying now will be dredged up as well.

I don't think there is any question in the minds of thinking people that Obama is neither qualified nor ready to be president. He has no experience (less than 2 years in the Senate). He does not critically analyze issues ("that's above my paygrade"). He makes poor choices (Joe Biden). He has no significant legislative accomplishment. He is a pretty face who reads well off a teleprompter. We might debate whether or not McCain is the man for the job (personally, I think he is a poor choice). But there is really no debate at all that Obama is neither qualified nor prepared.

Typical conservative garbage that those who disagree with them aren't "thinking people".

I can't help but notice you don't address the substance that supports the assertion. This further substantiates my point: People aren't actually thinking about Obama's qualifications and readiness. They simply object when someone points it out.

Of our presidents Abraham Lincoln probably had the least experience of any person before taking the office. His political career was not a sterling one up to that time.

Experience only goes so far. Jessie Helms and many other senators have/had a lot of experience, but I do not see that as making him and many others qualified to be president. This argument is a red herring.

Let's see, people who were long on experience:

1. Robert C. Byrd (D-WV)
January 3, 1959 to present
49 years, 8 months

2. Strom Thurmond (R-SC)
December 24, 1954 to April 4, 1956
and November 7, 1956 to January 3, 2003
47 years, 5.2 months

3. Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA)
November 7, 1962 to present
45 years, 10 months

4. Daniel K. Inouye (D-HI)
January 3, 1963-present
45 years, 8 months

5. Carl T. Hayden (D-AZ)
March 4, 1927 to January 3, 1969
41 years, 10.1 months

6. John C. Stennis (D-MS)
November 5, 1947 to January 3, 1989
41 years, 2 months

7. Theodore F. Stevens (R-AK)
December 24, 1968 to present
39 years, 8 months

8. Ernest F. Hollings (D-SC)
November 9, 1966 to January 3, 2005
38 years, 1.8 months

9. Richard B. Russell (D-GA)
January 12, 1933 to January 21, 1971
38 years

10. Russell B. Long (D-LA)
December 31, 1948 to January 3, 1987
38 years

11. Francis E. Warren (R-WY)
November 18, 1890 to March 3, 1893

and March 4, 1895 to November 24, 1929
37 years

12. James O. Eastland (D-MS)
June 30, 1941 to September 28, 1941

and January 3, 1943 to December 27, 1978
36 years, 3 months

13. Warren Magnuson (D-WA)
December 14, 1944 to January 2, 1981
36 years

14. Claiborne Pell (D-RI)
January 3, 1961 to January 3, 1997
36 years

15. Kenneth McKellar (D-TN)
March 4, 1917 to January 2, 1953
35 years, 10 months

16. Milton Young (R-ND)
March 12, 1945 to January 2, 1981
35 years, 9 months

17. Pete V. Domenici (R-NM)
January 3, 1973 to present
35 years, 8 months

17. Joseph R. Biden, Jr. (D-DE)
January 3, 1973 to present
35 years, 8 months

18. Ellison D. Smith (D-SC)
March 4, 1909 to November 17, 1944
35 years, 8 months

19. Allen J. Ellender (D-LA)
January 3, 1937 to July 27, 1972
35 years, 7 months

20. William B. Allison (R-IA)
March 4, 1873 to August 4, 1908

Experience only goes so far.
True, but it goes farther than not having experience.

Jessie Helms and many other senators have/had a lot of experience, but I do not see that as making him and many others qualified to be president.
I don't either, but I am not aware of any of those who are running, or who are the subject of this conversation.

This argument is a red herring.
I think it is a very important argument. When you have someone charged to lead, you need to know that he can do it. Obama has not shown that he can.

Sure I did. It is ludicrous for you think that simply because disagrees with you that he/she is not a "thinking person".

Where? I saw nowhere that you addressed his lack of experience, his lack of critical analysis of issues, his poor choices, or his lack of legislative accomplishment and leadership. If I missed it, please link me to the post.

It is ludicrous for you to say that I think that someone who disagrees with me is not a thinking person. I said nothing of the sort. This issue has nothing to do with agreeing with me. And people can disagree with me thoughtfully, often with more thought than I put into it myself. Please be more careful to read and understand. At no point did I say or suggest that someone's disagreement with me means that they are not thinking people.

And please address the substance of the issue, not the part of about whether or not someone is thinking. That was not the substance, although true to form in a political cycle, people often get caught up in things that are not substance such as you did here. You got caught up on one minor issue and ignored the evidence that supports the claim to begin with.

Then is it important that McCain finished 5th from the bottom of his gradutating class at the Naval Academy and was proud of that. His real goal was to be the goat, the last one making the grade. Well known story in Annapolis.

No, because he made it and many others did not. He went on to create an outstanding military record.

He is our greatest modern-day president.
Surely you jest! Clinton had to ask the court that was prosecuting him to define S*X!

He's a criminal, a liar, and is responsible for more Iraqi deaths than the current criminal, and liar.

And why is that important? (I am not saying it isn't, but you certainly need to explain why). These facts about Obama are well documented and have been shown to be relevant to the position he is seeking. Finishing fifth from the bottom at Annapolis probably places him well above most others, BTW. But I am not sure how that says something about his qualifications or ability to be president.

You're repeating yourself.

Calm down, take a deep breath. It's alright, Clinton is not president any longer, you can let it go.

I wrote that post only because so many as screaming about experience. Well smarts comes into play also and being 5th from the bottom may indicate a number of things, such as:

Not smart
Not interested
Immaturity
More interesting in playing than studying
etc., etc.

Not sure you are right there, but let's say you are. Clinton is not responsible for the deaths of so many Americans nor for the ruined lives of thousands more that have had their lives saved, but quality of life destroyed by terrible wounds.
