How so? You seem very confused.

You said " I don't hate anybody and your are bearing false witness when you say that I do."

Yet you are unable to provide any place where I said you hated anybody.

So it appears quite clearly that you are wrong. You proved it yourself when you quoted me. And now you are exacerbating it by persisting in it rather than being humble enough to admit you misread it. That makes no sense to me. Perhaps it is all apart of this lack of thinking problem that is going on.

The bigger picture here is the absurdity of equating talking with someone as being the same thing as appeasement. Neville Chamberlain's mistake was not in talking with Hitler; it was in agreeing to give him the Sudetenland when he did not have the means to enforce the agreement if Hitler broke it.

But Bush signed it into law with the stroke of his presidential pen.

Clinton signs China trade bill

October 10, 2000

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Clinton closed years of political and economic debate Tuesday, and sealed a major achievement of his administration by signing a bill extending permanent, normal trade status to China.

"Today we take a major step toward China's entry into the World Trade Organization and a major step toward answering some of the central challenges of this new century," Clinton said in a bipartisan White House ceremony Tuesday afternoon.

...and I sort of remember most of the 19 hijackers coming from Saudi Arabia. They are terrorists.

Yes, most of the terrorists were Saudi Nationals. Individuals. Not the Saudi government itself.

That would be because they have the oil.

This is an ignorant statement. Bush, doing John McBush's, uh I mean John McCain's bidding, used this to bash Obama. For someone to deny this is to deny reality. All Obama did was to call Bush on it, which he should have done.

So you don't think Bush's statements had anything at all to do with the fact that, just last month, Carter met with a Hamas official in direct defiance of both the Israeli and US governments? You think it's all about Obama?

Worse yet, Obama thinks it's all about him. Sheesh.

I see you are still at it. It seems to be the same pattern regardless of the individual.

Yes. I object to anybody who misreads statements and isn't honest with others people's words. It doesn't matter who it is. I can't imagine you have a problem with that. You actually encourage people to misread and misuse other people's words??

Christ directs us as individuals to love our enemies. He does not mean by that that we are to excuse their sins or not confront them when they mistreat others. He in fact calls us at times to shun our enemies becuase they are his enemies.

However, none of those directions are given to nations. So Christ's words do not apply to this situation.

Interesting, LE. From the linked article:

"Questions have also been raised about the Bush administration’s role in the company’s payments to the AUC. Court documents revealed that Chiquita told the US Justice Department about the payments in 2003 and then continued to fund the paramilitary group for another ten months with the full knowledge of the Bush administration. Colombian Senator Jorge Robledo of the opposition Polo Democratico has asked, “How much more does the US government know about payments to the paramilitaries?” Opposition legislators in Colombia have also called for the re-opening of an illegal arms trafficking case in which Israeli arms dealers smuggled 3,000 rifles and 2.5 million rounds of ammunition into the country through Chiquita’s port facility for delivery to the AUC in November 2001."

Building one banana republic after another since 1898. That kind of a record cannot be set without state and corporate terrorism. But we call it national security and foreign policy so it's cool, it's cool.

Chiquita paid protection money to both leftist and rightist groups in Colombia, under threat of violence, in an attempt to keep their workers safe. One of the costs of growing bananas in Columbia. They were later charged by the Justice Department, paid a $25,000,000 fine, and sold off their Colombia operations. Sinister stuff.

Nations are made up of individuals, individuals carry out the policies of their nation, so to say it applies only to nations means it comes back down to individuals. That is a total cop out of responsibility to try to shift it to an abstract idea. Christ words apply to individuals and individuals make up a nation, so it is obviour they apply to nations!

Incorrect. You are mistaken. Individuals carrying out the policies of a nation are doing so as an agent of the nation. That is why killing in war is not murder under the Law of Scripture; nor is capital punishment. Romans 13 makes a clear distinction between individuals as individuals, and individuals as governors. When Christ said to render to Caesar what was Caesar's, he was referring to paying a tax to the government, not to an individual. So the distinction is in Scripture, and is well recognized throughout civilization.

Who, Jimmy Carter? Nancy Pelosi? Both of whom made un-authorized foreign policy trips to the M-E. How do you know he wasn't refering to them?

"We did not anticipate that it would be taken that way, because its kind of hard to take it that way when you look at the actual words. ... There was some anticipation that someone might say you know its an expression of rebuke to former President Carter for having met with Hamas. that was something that was anticipated but no one wrote about it or raised it."
