With the help of the Holy Spirit yes that is the goal everyday.
1Cor 6:9-11
9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

If you are sanctified, justified in Jesus and by the Holy Spirit I know its there for all believers! No, sinner will make it in heaven. I am saved by grace and a Kings kid!

Not at all in reference to the question to HankD. To answer your other question about claiming to attain the goal of sinlessness. As believers we should be striving for that each day that we live. Remember, sin will not enter into the Kingdom of God (Heaven). So, no matter how one spins this lie that we cannot because we are still in the flesh. (The serpents lie from the beginning). Those that take GOD's WORD completely believes that it is absolutely true to live Holy for He is Holy. The root word for righteous is (right) according to his Word. If you know "right" walk in the right way of the Lord! Think in the right. Believe in the right way. PERIOD! There is no cutting the corners. To many are still falling for the deception "Surely you will not".....

John answers these questions with two very different passages. At 1 John 1:6-7. and 3"6 we see that as born anew believers we are sinless, because all our sins, past, present and future have been taken out of the way. However, take a look at 1 John 1:8, which says we all sin. So how do we fit these two ideas into a coherent message?

From God's perspective, even though we think and do sinful stuff, we remain perfect and holy and blameless. However, we as individuals know (especially with the conviction of our indwelt Holy Spirit) that we sin. So we are to strive, to pick up our cross daily, and do our dead level bast to live like Christ - sinlessly.
Van, that is a pretty good synopsis in that it correctly sees our New Man as being the New Creation that sins not. But it also recognizes that the old man of flesh is still with us and will constantly battle against the New Man and lead us to sin, which we do every day in thought, word, and deed.

Praise God He looks on the New Man. :)

I am not ashamed of what Jesus did in my life. If your sins are washed away why is the church afraid to really stand on what God's word says?

There are believers that walk this earth today in that they take what this word says absolute. Are we as a church going to continue believe in the lie from the beginning as Satan deceived Eve? Look at your life in the eyes of the Spirit.

You accuse "the church" of believing a lie yet you won't answer your own question.

Why can't you give a direct answer or will you do another verbal tap dance around your own question?

Asking the Lord to forgive us of our sins, and repenting/forsaking doing them again, is a far cry though from "sinless perfection"

You make the statement my claim was false.

It is obligatory that the show any Scripture of any translation that uses the words “propitiatory shelter” in the context of your statement.

Obviously, you are attempting to point (perhaps) to the mercy seat, but that seat was not a shelter for believers, but a type, a promise, a hope of what was to be fulfilled in Christ.

FULFILLED in Christ is not the same concept as believers finding some shelter under a seat.

Guess being "Holy" is the sign of sinless perfection!

This is a subject that separates many churches and even Christians within the same denomination. One's salvation can be at stake if he/she does not understand this subject well. Along with the subject thread here are four questions to tag with the subject:

1. Does God expect Christians to live a sinless life?
2. Does God expect Christians to live holy?
3. Does Jesus Christ expect a sinner to go on sinning until death?
4. Can a born again person live a sinless life?
Can you give me your definition of just what you think sin actually is?
