FWIW, my jr high math teacher told me "while I believe in the death penalty, I'm not so sure I want to give this out of control government of ours the right to take life."
So his jab was at inept government. Not saying I agree, just saying that I'll never forget his reason for objecting to it. He ended up dying of pancreatic cancer. :-(

Those who are properly tried, convicted of murder then executed get what they deserve. Period.

Zaac, will you agree with that? And I'm talking about convicted murderers getting the death penalty...do they get what they deserve?

And here again is what I mean. You say they get what they deserve period. That may be the case from man's legal POV. And it's the way folks in this worldly system are supposed to think.

But NOT THE BODY OF CHRIST.
Not the ones understand what it is to receive mercy.

We've broken the same law that the convicted murderer has broken. But MERCY said no! Do we need deserve deah for sinning against a HOLY God? I know I do. So how dare I say someone deserves to have his life taken by sinful men when both them and me are guilty of breaking the same law?

Many on here believe abortion to be murder. Then why aren't the many pushing for mothers who get abortions to be prosecuted as murderers?

For the record, I am all for abolishing abortion, and instituting the death penalty for any FUTURE abortions. In the case of America, I would allow amnesty to past abortions, but any future would be grounds for capital punishment. Both for the woman and the provider.

That would be a consistent viewpoint. That's another vote for killing the murdering mothers.

If the church really believes that abortion is murder, then every Christian needs to come out pushing for capital punishment for the mothers.

So why don't the evangelical "conservatives" grow a pair and take that stand? Could it once again be because their conviction isn't really a conviction at all but a political tool?

Wrong. When sin is committed within the body, justice of a temporal nature is still demanded. Show me the excuse that excuses sin committed by a Christian.

1 Corinthians 6, NASB
2 Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts?
3 Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life?
Paul writes that passage in chastising the Corinthian Christians for going to secular courts of law to settle disputes when the proper place is before the body. But if we are fit to judge the angels, and one another, then how are we not fit to judge the crimes of the murderer, thief, rapist, forger, etc.? You're making absolutely no sense with this argument.
Many on here believe abortion to be murder. Then why aren't the many pushing for mothers who get abortions to be prosecuted as murderers?
You're ignoring that the law of the land says that abortion isn't illegal. So how would anyone have a viable position demanding that mothers who get abortions be charged with murder? Or the doctors, either?

Circular and straw man arguments are your favorites. You rant and rant and rant, and you know what Zaac? Very few are listening. Whatever your real purpose is in being a member here -- and only you know what that is -- you're failing miserably.

Crimes deserving the death penalty are decided by the government. The government has mandated that abortion is not a crime, ergo, nonpunishable.

I believe abortion is murder, but the state does not.

IF abortion WAS considered murder by the government and made into a death penalty crime, there would have to be several people potentially put to death:

  • At a minimum, the mother, doctor, and nurses.
  • Included the MAJORITY of the time when girls feel pressure into abortions would be the parents of the girl who threaten to abandon her if she does not get an abortion, the father of the baby who threatens to abandon if she does not "get rid of it", and all parties involved in the "system" of abortion.
Abortion is a crime of many people.

You believe abortion is murder . The state does not. But you still make it known that you are against abortion[/quote]

This is still the picture of hypocrisy. You believe that the government got it wrong in allowing the taking of the life of the unborn. But you support the government decision to take the life of the born.

Will the church of Jesus Christ please choose either life or death and stay on one side?

As to the OP, you seem to think that we who support the death penalty DESIRE to see people die whom we consider death-worthy.

Nothing could be further from the truth. We are all death-worthy. But that does not absolve us from punishments, both secular and spiritual just because we are all sinners. Society, being supported by the Bible, can and does deem which crimes are punishable by death. And .... if the process is fair, just, due process led, and equitable, then that punishment can be dealt out without fear of offending God.

I didn't say or ask if we were absolved of punishment, secular or spiritual. And you just said it. We are ALL death worthy. SO why aren't we ALL okay with us getting what we deserve just as we're okay with them who have committed crimes that the government says warrant death?

Why is it okay for us to advocate death just because the government makes it legal to do?
The government makes it legal to get an abortion but I haven't seen too many evangelical churches advocating abortion the way we do the government sanctioned death penalty.

If you believe that abortion is murder, then make it known to your elected officials that the mothers and anyone connected to the murder deserve death. Call them tomorrow. It should become the new platform for the church.

Get or assist in an abortion and you deserve the death penalty. If that's what we want to say, then say it.

Who said anything about excusing sin?Are you advocating the murder of Christian mothers who have gotten abortions?

They shed anothers blood. It's murder. So be consistent and demand the death penalty.

Can I put you down for a YES, kill the murdering mothers?

Does Scripture PROHIBIT the use of the death penalty?

According to the "consensus", it does not. I of course disagree with the "consensus" because everything about the Cross and the Gospel of Jesus Christ speaks against the position of the Christian ...the ones who understand God's mercy and UNMERITED favor...being anything other than mercy and unmerited favor and thus life?

We acknowledge that the government got life wrong with abortion and fight tooth an nail against that. But then we act like they got life and death right with the death penalty.

The world system doesn't understand life PERIOD.

Yes, the government is wrong is allowing the taking of the life of the unborn and I do not support that. The unborn baby is innocent and has done nothing to deserve to be executed by God's law or man's law. It is an unjust murder of someone hasn't done anything wrong.

The government allows for the death penalty of certain criminals who commit certain crimes. I support that. A person who is a serial rapist of children or who bombs a building a kills people HAS committed a sin worthy of death according to the law and the Bible. The Bible, in the law, says that God equates rape with murder.

An unborn child hasn't done anything to deserve execution. I am against abortion.

The person who is a serial killer/rapist HAS committed a crime punishable by death according to God and the law. I am pro-death penalty.

Will the church of Jesus Christ please choose either life or death and stay on one side?

I just did.

Why is it okay for us to advocate death just because the government makes it legal to do?

Because the Bible does.

The government makes it legal to get an abortion but I haven't seen too many evangelical churches advocating abortion the way we do the government sanctioned death penalty.

That's because abortion is a sin.

If you believe that abortion is murder, then make it known to your elected officials that the mothers and anyone connected to the murder deserve death. Call them tomorrow. It should become the new platform for the church.

That isn't going to happen. The government is never going to revoke Roe v. Wade.

I would much rather continue in doing what my church does. Supporting the Christian institutions that find these girls, house them, counsel them into giving their child up for adoption, help them to find jobs/finish school so that they can raise the child themselves and teaching/preaching the sanctity of the life of the unborn.

We aren't going to change any laws regarding abortion, but we can reach these girls for Christ and prevent some of the abortions in that regard.

Thus the hypocrisy.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. What hypocrisy?

She said the baby is innocent, but without a trial or a defending attorney, is convicted and sentenced to death by the mother and father, with sentence carried out by the executioner/abortionist.

A serial killer at least gets a lawyer and a trial before being convicted and executed.

UNLESS you're trying to say that she's a hypocrite because she admits to being pro-death. In which case, I have two questions for you: Why is your interpretation of scripture right, and everyone else's is wrong?

What puts you in a higher position of authority to demean other Christians for not agreeing with you about what scripture says?

What is amazing is that if yall believe that, why you aren't advocating the same death penalty for mothers and doctors who take the life of the unborn.

Be consistent.

Let it be known that you believe the government gets it wrong when it comes to abortion and that these mothers and others who take innocent life should get the death penalty for murdering babies.

It's not that difficult a stance to take.
Yall have said as much about others who are guilty of spilling innocent blood. Then man up and say that you feel the same about mothers who murder their baby or continue in hypocrisy.

The hypocrisy is that some are saying that , for example, the serial killer should be a candidate for death.

Say the same about the mother who murders her unborn child.

Several people have; add me to the list, with the caveat that we also include whoever else was a willing participant (father, doctor, nurse, etc.).

Noted. Again that approach would at least be non-hypocritical.

So which emotion are you feeling most ?

Happiness that you were able to call us all murderers ?

Or anger at not being able to call us hypocrites ?

Great Questions Deserve a Reward ....

Christians profess to be pro-life but also say they are okay with capital punishment.

It's even been said that Genesis 9:6 is the justification for capital punishment.
“Whoever sheds human blood,
by humans shall their blood be shed;
for in the image of God
has God made mankind.

So if the Body is to be consistent, should we not advocate capital punishment for any living mother who has chosen to abort a child?

So, I ask you Zaac, when you finished with this ridiculous battle will you the time to head to Troll-landfor some rest and relaxation? You will need the time, in fact, for the best question ever asked on the Board, you truly deserve it! ENJOY???
