That would be unAmerican and people as will I, fight it tooth and nail. We need to just go back to they way it was before the dems broke it.
And that's one of the reasons I could never be an American. I'm very happy with our 'socialized ' healthcare system here

It will never happen in a single step. It will be a very long, very screwed up, process.

Think about it. Even a mainstream Democrat will not propose it or commit to support it. I don't even think Bernie was all in on it. He was guarded and proposing half measures.

Brother, we gotta start somewhere.

We will be forced into it Matt. After that, hopefully we Americans can tackle the disparity in our Educational System costs.....but that is way down the road. When my countrymen understand that these issues are the frontiers that we have to address, then we will all be better off.

I do business with a lot of Canadians. They seem to love their healthcare system. They compare the wait times for care as similar to the U.S. system. I honestly think Trump supports single payer.

They don't love their tax rates.

I discussed that with one that lives and works in the USA. He said if you look at the totality of taxes:state, federal, local, gas, excuse, etc, and add what he pays for health care insurance in the U.S. into the equation; He pays less taxes in Canada.

I honestly don't know. When you factor in a family paying $15k a year in insurance and out of pocket medical, that will pay a lot of tax.

You don't really think all those other "taxes" will magically go away once we are taxed for health care, do you. Whatever healthcare costs will be piled on top. a conservative extimate would be that you federal income taxes will double or triple. And then the government will get to decide if your condition is worth treating or not.

I know all the horror stories and what is. I also know that the fed income tax rate in Canada is not 90 some odd percent.if you doubled mine, it would be in the 90s. Impossible to triple it.

OK , just double it if that makes you happy.:D

They're always just "stories" until they happen to you.

The marginal tax rate has been over 90% for some people in the past. It's not without precedence.

Double or triple? Bring it on, then. Doubling the amount of income tax I pay would be far less than the $18,900 I'm paying now for health insurance.

Most single payer systems proposed for the US have a payroll tax on employers and employees (5% to 10%) or a payroll tax on employers (5% to 10%) and an income tax on employees (2% to 5%). Again, that would be far, far less than $18,900 in my case, and probably less for the vast majority of people.

Others that have been victimized by Obamacare probably feel the same way.

You can always drop it and go to the ER for all your care. It's free. Has been for years.:D

Speaking of raising taxes to fund health care...
