Look at 8:1 again. There was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem. Local, visible. The only kind there is.

Hi to all , and where is the Body of Christ called a Royal Preisthood ?

In the Old Testament , to be a Priest , you had to be from the Tribe of Levi , are you ? And to be a Highpriest , all had to be a direct decendant of Aaron . What is the context , it is Jewish !!

John writes to the churches of Asia, who were made of Jews and Gentiles, and said, "unto him who loved us, and washed from our sins in his own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." We are priests today and are able to offer our own sacrifices to God. We are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice unto Him.

Maybe you ought to reveal the point you're trying to make. If it is to prove the existence of a Universal Church, then just say so.

Of course, people make up churches. Is the congregation you serve people? I'm sure so. My congregation is Christ's church. I'm sure you believe the same about yours.

They are local congregations, by the way. Just like the congregation at Jerusalem. Which, in fact, was the only one in existence at the time.

Christ's church is Christ's people. It is not any of the many religious organizations that call themselves churches today. It is the people of God in Christ. When the Apostle Paul addressed "the church of God at Corinth," he did not write to "the Corinthian church." He wrote to the people of God who lived in Corinth.

You confuse the family of God with the church of God. The church is not simply God's people. The church of Christ is the assembly of baptized believers authorized to administer the ordinances, ordain elders and carry out the Great Commission in their own locality "the church of God AT Corinth....YE are THE BODY of Christ and members in particular." The church of Christ is an ADMINISTRATIVE body with administrative AUTHORITY - keys of the kingdom (Mt. 18:15-18) and is the VISIBLE expression of God's kingdom and family in any given geographical locality.

The family of God (God's people) can be found from Genesis to Malichi but you cannot find "the church of Christ" from Genesis to Malichi because it's foundation was not yet built as it consisted of "aposltes" (Eph. 2:20) and the apostles were "FIRST SET IN THE CHURCH" (I Cor. 12:28).

It is this confusion between the family of God and the Church of God that is the basis for most of the religious confusion and proliferation of false churches in professing Christendom.

The New Covenant church of Christ is the people of God in Christ (I Pet. 2:5-10). This church is Christ's spiritual house (Mat. 16:18). No other church is the church of Christ. Today, our world is filled with man-made religious organizations that call themselves churches, but they are not the New Covenant church of Christ.

Are you disregarding the local church as being legitimate?

I of course agree with you regarding the ONE church that exsists worldwide. The scriptures are just so clear about that. Its the world wide family of God. Or the Kingdom of God on earth. Or the Uiversal church.

However, a "local" fellowship that gathers regularly is not out of line in calling themselves a "Church".

We find both concepts taught in the scriptures.

The so-called local church is just the one true church of Christ in a given location. This does not mean that the many competing religious organizations we see all around us today are the one true church of Christ localized. There is really only one true church of Christ, not two or more churches of Christ.

So you dont' believe there was a "people of God" before the ministry of Christ on earth as recorded in the four gospels?????
