    Good morning all,

It is a cold 29º here this morning and they got SNOW about 2 hours north of us! I am SO not ready for this!!! Snow is a nasty four-letter word!

I'm excited about the youth conference. A lot of adults attend too and I'm gonna be one of them! I still have the sniffles, but the sore throat and headache are gone - PTL!

Time to get Brent up for school and Shawna up for work and feed them both.

There are fresh sugar-free doughnuts on the counter - help yourself.

    Good Morning Everyone!

It was 41 degrees this morning about 7:30 when I took the girls to school. Haven't checked yet to see what it's going to get up to. I doubt it'll stay to chilly cause we have another big storm system heading this way for Monday and Tuesday.

I am so sleepy this morning. I think it is time for a nap!

Hairwolf the cat has attracted a boyfriend. Since she never goes outside I haven't quite figured out how. He's big and black and we give each other a start when I walk through the kitchen. He runs and I jump! LOL! Maybe sometime today I'll get used to having a black shawdow dart from back door.

Kid count is 2 at school and 1 at home. I'm waiting on Jenna to call me though. HEr throat is still sore and now she has a runny nose. No fever though so that's good.

Sue, you are a brave one to go to a youth conference. Do you realize how LOUD those things are? :D

Preacher I only rescued a handful of pecans yesterday, but they are on the counter. You'd think with two big huskies tied up under the pecan tree the squirrels would stay away. Not so. Theiving things climb the oak tree that the dogs can't reach and jump over to the pecan tree! I'll check for hickory nuts this weekend when I try to find the newest hole Mishka has dug under the fence.

    Ya'll have a good day!

Just popping in to say good night.

We had a wonderful time at the youth conference tonight! The church was packed, including the balcony. We had people there from 24 churches, 8 states, and Canada.

John Bishop brought the message and it was SO good!

Tomorrow is going to be even better so I'd better get to bed!

    Pleasant dreams all!

Hey Sue...is this the John Bishop based out of Murfreesboro, TN and refers to his wife as "my Donna"? If so, I bet it was wonderful. He has such a wonderful testimony!

Morning all! It's chilly here this morning and I think we just may have to finally turn on the heat. It's 61 degrees in the house this morning so I'm making some whole wheat blueberry muffins to try and warm up a bit. We have a wedding today - I just hope I have something to wear! It's been so warm up until now and the dress I planned to wear has no sleeves - brrr!! The place where the reception is, is where WE had our reception 21 years ago so it will be fun to go back there and the couple is a wonderful pair of friends - I'm so happy they're together (they're both a little older). I worked a LOT yesterday getting stuff together for Sunday - our pastor is beginning a book series - Romans - and the notes for this week are extensive since he's laying the ground work for the study. We'll probably take about 2 years to do the full book if we go by history - 4 years for Genesis and 3 years for Revelation. LOL!! I love doing a book study like this because he covers each and every verse - hard and easy ones. But that was one big powerpoint I put together!! LOL!! over 20 slides for a 40 minute sermon but it HAD to be done. :D

I hope you all have a wonderful day today!! I wish I had some nuts for BH but we don't have any trees with any. Sorry! If I went to my dad's, though, I could get you CASES of acorns - literally!! We can only put a small amount in each trash bag because those things are heavy!! His yard can get up to 2" of acorns on the ground each fall.

    Ann

Yes, Pamela, it's the same John, and MyDonna was there with "Timmy". It is amazing to see what God has brought him through, but a little sad too, since I've known him for 30 years and can really see all the differences. But :godisgood:

I don't know about TN, but he started Triple § Christian Ranch in Rosebud, AR, and has been there for 30 years, and is still there, as far as I know. All of my kids went there when they were younger. He travels 50 weeks out of the year now though, so he may not run the camp, physically, any longer.

Well, I slept in a little this morning and I've got to get a move on to be at the conference by 9:30. It lasts until 5:30.

My oldest grandson, Bobby (Pastor_Bob's son) was there from the church in Chillicothe that he will be pastoring soon. He brought the teens to the conference and he asked me for a 'date' (lunch date) today that is. :love2:

    HAGD all! I plan to!

Lovely day to all. We had rain in the evening and had it been snow we would be six feet under.....I tell you, it rained that much and hard.

I was reminded by Ann's post why I disike churches that use overhead projectors and screens...........I miss half the service because I can't read those stupid screens. Now I just refuse to stay when a church uses the screens. If I wanted a screen I would remain home and watch the telly.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Hi Jim. It would be difficult to find a church without a screen around here I think.
    Blessings

We have a big screen, but we also have hymnals in the pews, so everyone is happy! :saint:

They remind me of the pictures years ago when one had to follow the bouncing ball.

No thanks, I attend church to worship. If I want the pictures, the telly has better pictures. Give me that old fashioned religion.....it is good enough for me..........

    Cheers,

    Jim

Jim - Don't say that! I need that job! LOL!! I actually am enjoying the creative part of it since I'm SO not creative at all. I've been working on finding backgrounds to the words that will add to the song - and I make sure that the words are pretty big. For those who have a hard time seeing the words on the screen, we also print a large print book with all of the songs for that week on it - and a large print copy of the bulletin. I really prefer the screen for 2 reasons - #1 - we can incorporate new songs when we find them, and #2 - I don't have my nose buried in a hymnal but I'm singing a song that I can keep my head high and praise the Lord. Most of the songs we sing are songs that we learn pretty quickly - especially my family since DH is one of the worship leaders and I pretty much only have worship music in my car.

Also, especially for this week, the powerpoint for the sermon will be pretty important. It's the first sermon in a series on Romans (we will go through the entire book verse by verse) and there's a few charts and such that we're having in it. It helps to have those visuals so we understand what's going on with it.

So, Jim - don't poo-poo all screens! You'd have me out of a job if they weren't around!

    Ann

I'm glad you do the large-print option, Ann.
One of the things I miss with the screen is that only the words are there.
This means that everyone sings the melody.

Not like the "old days" of my youth where people in the congregation routinely sang harmony.

But what about singing songs that are not hymns? There are SO many absolutely awesome worship songs that are not in the hymnals - even songs that my DH has written or the other worship leader has written. We wouldn't be able to sing some of them if we had only hymnals. I can put in any song on the fly even - like the times that Pastor says at the end of the sermon "Why don't we do........instead of the planned last song?" and I need all of 15 seconds to load it. :D (of course, then they're not in the large print booklets but ..... ).

I don't see anything wrong with it and I even prefer it to books.
