Heaven forbid, Dear Gayla. I would be thrown out of this forum by Lady Sue....

Friend of God, you made me hungry with the mention of all that food.

That's the idea Barnabas. In the words of Jed Clampett: "Sit a spell."

The only question I have about New York City's Christmas decorations is are the angels heralding the arrival of the Christ child, or Donald Trump?

Guess it's the Christ child. The Donald is pretty good at blowing his own horn. :tongue3:

Good Morning Everyone!

Ya'll sing me a chorus! I managed to get an entire dozen handmade, embroidered and quilted Christmas ornaments done and delivered in just two and a half days! And they turned out fantastic. Of course you'll have to take my word for that as I forgot to take a picture to post!

Today is the kids last day of school. I have one hour to get myself dressed, do the checkbook, figure which account the Amazon bill went too so I can make sure there is money in that account and get back to pick up Christopher and turn in the science book we have here at home. Then it is home again to drop Chris and his friend and off to Jenna's school for her Christmas party and program. After that, well, I've kinda wrecked the house sewing for the last two days and we're supposed to host a dinner come Friday night, so I suppose I had better clean a bit. :D Oh, and the kids want to Christmas shop! We'll see what I get done.

Jim, great t-shirt. I have some similar (not with dogs) on the to do list. My MIL wants a new one with pics of the kids on it. If she gets one then my FIL will want one and.......

Rob, stay warm. I'm doing your crockpot pizza for supper tonight if I can squeeze in enough time to load the crockpot!

Sue, stay dry! Maybe you'll get snow instead of rain?

Barnabas, good to see you posting again!

I'm not too good at choruses Cindi. How 'bout I sing a solo? So-Low nobody can hear me that is.

You mean you don't have a "self-loading" crockpot?
[actually it's called a husband].

Aren't you "pushing your luck" if T thinks you can't cook?, or are you telling him I made it and sent it to you via the internet? :tongue3:

What did I say I was going to get done today? Let's see....Hey! I did pretty good! I think I accomplished everything except some of the housecleaning and the shopping! Of course it was T who finally figured out where the Amazon bill went too. They had back ordered what T accidently ordered (one click ordering is a BAD thing!) so they hadn't charged our account. One click ordering has now been disabled off T's Amazon account.  LOL! I have laughed at him for three days now for accidently ordering. He's the computer guy. It's what he does for a living; he's not supposed to make mistakes like that! (mean wife aren't I?)

I've put on a fresh pot of coffee. The crockpot is full of Rob's "Crockpot Pizza" and it looks to be ready to eat.

Rob, throwing things into a crockpot can in no way be construed as "real cooking", so I'm perfectly safe. Thanks for your concern though! :D

So tonight's the kid's Christmas party at church, which is why I'm loading up on coffee. They definately have energy to burn! I don't know how poor Cassie is sleeping through all their noise.

Cassie is paying the price for spending the night with a friend and staying up till nearly dawn.(no not really, but I'm sure they were up past midnight) She made it home just in time for the migraine to hit. I'm so tired of migraines! At least Chris' seem to finally be leveling off. Now all I have to do is keep him from catching every bug that comes along.

Gotta go make boys take showers before church. They've been playing outside all day. Ava beat Chris' friend up this afternoon while they were out. They had the dogs pulling them on their skateboards, which is something they do quite often. Problem was the dogs hadn't been exercised well this past week and were very excited! Ava gave one snatch and the poor fella went head over heels off that skateboard. He's skinned up from head to toe. He didn't let go of the leash though! Poor Ava, her escape attempt was for naught.

See ya later!

Good morning to one and all. Another lovely day to enjoy life. Still no snow. I may never get the igloo built this winter. I wonder if one can build an igloo with mud?

Cheers to everyone, and God bless,

Jim

Good morning all,

It is 46º and still raining here. I am still setting out bowls to catch drips on the sun porch. So far, nothing has gotten ruined. The rain is supposed to stop sometime tonight.

I'm gonna have to try Rob's crockpot pizza too. It sounds good, easy, and I have all the ingredients. My kind of recipe! I made 6 dozen Christmas cupcakes yesterday and had a couple of people drop in for some 'goodies' and fellowship. I don't have TIME to cook supper anymore...

Time for coffee,

Good Morning Everybody,

Boy, am I glad I don't live in Denver, or Casper, WY. They not only are having a "White Christmas" but enough snow to cover all the holidays in 2007 as well. It is raining and 40 degrees here in Michigan. Christmas Eve, and Christmas are forecast to be in the 40s as well.

I brought in Cheesy Frattata, Home Fries, and Double-Cranberry Muffins. Enjoy.

I don't think I can ever express how much all of you mean to me. Your care, encouragement, prayers and support during what I just went through will never be forgotten. Many of you I don't know your faces, but I know the size of your heart. You're all in my thought and prayers, and you'll stay there too, I promise.

We went to my neighbor Jimmy to church for prayer meeting last night. I made a prayer request for an unspoken need. It's kind of scary being church hunting but I know Jesus has a place for us; if we listen, learn, and follow His leading we'll soon be home.

It's getting closer to Christmas. I'll bring in a Chocolate dessert each day for my brothers and sisters to enjoy. Today is Triple Chocolate Bliss Cake.

Good Morning Everyone!

Mmmm, just in time for the chocolate!

Sue, the crockpot pizza got rave reviews at my house last night! There were a few suggestions to make it more to our taste (we like things spicy!), like adding Italian sausage and garlic to the ground beef along with cooking the onions at the same time and using spaghetti sauce instead of pizza sauce(because we have a favorite that we use interchangably with pizza sauce depending on our mood). Oh and more mushrooms! But overall, this recipe is a keeper! It made a big pot full and there wasn't enough leftover to save. :D Let me clarify, I fed 2 adults and 4 kids. 3 of the kids had eaten pizza and who knows what else at the church Christmas party. And I still didn't have enough of this leftover to save. I think that makes for a GREAT recipe!

If T hadn't of had to go to work this morning, I think I'd still be asleep! Even two cups of coffee and a huge piece of Rob's cake haven't washed the sleepy out of my eyes. Maybe a second piece will help. :D

Today's list is pretty small, laundry, a bit of housecleaning, shopping with the kids and maybe cleaning a couple of carpets. We're having company on Saturday and some of my carpets are really showing all the work we've done in the house since the last cleaning. That can wait until tomorrow though if I don't get to it.

Right now though I'm sitting and enjoying the peace that comes from not having to get kids ready to go to school. Yay for Christmas vacation!!

Morning everyone!! Today is going to be a wonderful day, I think!! A friend of mine is coming home with her precious new daughter from China!! God's hand has been so evident in this adoption and I can't wait to see Hannah. I'm going out foodshopping for them in a few minutes - picking up some staples so that they don't need to go out right after they get home (milk, eggs, bread, fresh fruit and veggies, etc.). After that, we have our church staff Christmas party which is ALWAYS a blast - since we have over 40 people on staff!! It will be at church and catered by a man in our congregation. We drew names for a $10 gift exchange and our senior pastor (who's love language is gifts) buys gifts for all the kids. He'll sit kind of like Santa (he's also big and grey - no beard, however) and call each child up to him, talk to them for a minute and encourage them then give them a gift. Finally, each year, the men and women take turns writing a song for the others - usually to the tune of a Christmas song. This year it's the women's turn and we have a GREAT song to the tune of "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire". My DH is included in the following verse:

We know that Pastor's on his way
We hope he's not wearing a fancy suit today
And Bob we hear him down the hall
No microphone or speaker needed at all

*notes - Pastor USUALLY is casual during the week unless he has a special business meeting or something - or if he's going to fire you, hence the hoping he's not wearing a fancy suit!! As for Bob, my dear husband - he has a booming voice that EVERYONE can hear all throughout the office - and during skits in church (usually for VBS), they don't bother giving him a mike since he's just so darned loud!! One Sunday he was leading worship and his mike went out - and no one noticed! LOL!!

I have my jam all made up (did 2 batches last night), so I can take care of everyone at church with our little homemade gift (it's cranberry/strawberry - VERY yummy!), and later today I'll get out the last of the cards, then straighten up because we have a friend coming for dinner who's wife went to England for Christmas - he'll be leaving tomorrow night. I'm thinking of making my Wine-Braised Italian Sausages, a big salad and Italian bread. For dessert, I have apple strudel.

Have a wonderful, blessed day everyone!!

Ann

Triple Chocolate Bliss Cake!! Yum, Yum!!!!!!!!

Hello Folks,

I got some not-so-good results on the Tumor-Marker test yesterday. The count was 74 in October, and it's now 171! (Think Golf score, Low is Good, high is Not Good.) The Bone Scan, however, showed no change in the spot in the spine. Just keep praying, please.

Rob, I have prayed for your situation with the former 'pastor' and now your Church search.

Those of you with the nasty weather, please be careful driving, and walking:smilewinkgrin: .

Gayla, sorry to read of your news, and still praying that our Lord will bring the peace and joy He brought to us in His grace and love, especially as we consider what He did for us throughout this season we call Christmas.

Cheers, and God bless,

Jim

Still praying for your health Gayla.
The bone-scan is encouraging news though. Would it help to retest the tumor marker?

You're welcome to all the Chocolate Cake you want.

Jim1999, good job on defending our life struggles. Paul's life was NOT saintly by holding STEPHENS clothing while he was being Stone to DEATH by lucifers hoards. I too, fell upon the ground about as hard on the dirt as Paul did. I was up in a tree, blacked out, and fell from limb to limb on the way down as well as falling upon the sawed off limbs with their sawed off stubs awaiting to greet me at the surface level of the field of fruit groves. They said I was so bad off that high impact that I needed to wrapped up and flown by a helicopter to the big City of Baltimore, approxitately 70 miles from the farm and impact area. I am still having thorns of what Paul had---I believe it was broken ribs upon impact that Paul had from falling off a horse being reared-up from 7.5 hands to an additonal 3 hands in height and thrown with velocity of a horse going in a panic mode over it's situation. In the hospital, I was continuealy being turned over for personal health reasons, which made all broken bones and all brused tendons, muscles and blood vessels damaged by fall to break open again. Rib number eight and rib number 5 on the left side could not handle all the hospital care in joistling around and then decided to seperate. This is called floater ribs. When I fainally got thru my Illious problem of lower extremity frozen and non cooperative, my back bones and ribs did not like the constant movements of my body. So one rib bone in the back buckled in started bleeding into chest cavity making my cavity fill up with dead blood cells. Got that drained at hospital number 4. However it was that same bone in back under my shoulder blade that buckled out from more hospital movements and physical theraphy. So, today I still have pings and pongs in my body as I do daily things. I do believe that Jesus and all the prayers of the earthly saints were heard by Jesus to pull me thru this second life as you said you had with your heart operation. Again thank you for sharing info to the person about preacher not knowing about PAUL's thorns--My grace is sufficient for you, Jesus told all of us believers in Christ.

Sorry, I never had heart surgery or medical heart problems. I don't know where that idea came from. I am confused???

Cheers,

Jim

Jim, he may have you confused with Brother Bob. I believe he has had two heart surgeries.

Evening all,

We have stayed inside out of the rain all day. Brent is coming down with a cold which is not good with his Asthma, so we're trying to 'nip it in the bud' and I sure don't want to get Bronchitis right at Christmas time (or any other time, for that matter).

I will run the vaporizer in his bedroom tonight and rub his chest down with Vicks and put a warm cloth over it. It is comforting if nothing else...

The rain has stopped, but the fog is as thick as pea soup!

Pastor and one of his grandsons stopped by today for cookies and eggnog. My preacher really loves cookies. I didn't think he was ever going to stop eating them, but he finally got full after eating quite a few Ritz crackers with ham salad and/or cheeseball on them!

I am having more people in tomorrow and Saturday. I really like this 'open house' thing. I've had a lot of good fellowship.

Well, I'm going to get Brent settled in and then I'm going to bed. I didn't get much sleep on the couch last night and I'm tired. :sleeping_2:

Pleasant dreams all!

You may be right, Sue....I hate to be confused with Brother Bob, though...lol

When I was young, we used goose grease on the chest for colds and such...It was the prime medicine in those days.....

Cheers,

Jim

Goose grease? That's so far north.

Down south it's a hot onion poultice for breaking up chest congestion! That's real medicine!

LOL! My kids did their shopping and now all want to exchange gifts tonight! It's so hard to wait for Christmas!

They all did a very good job picking presents for one another. It was very sweet the way they looked over the choices and picked the very best they could afford for the others. (I only had to supplement just a few $$)

Then it was off to church for Jenna's basketball practice. The older two socialized while I sat with the "old folks" and learned a new (to me) card game. Something called Speed Bo (?). It was quite fun and I even won the last hand. :)

It's turning off rainy here this evening and has gotten a bit cool. Perfect night for curling up in bed with the remote. Hmmm......

Good morning all,

My late MIL used to make my husband wear a baked onion around his neck when he had a cold. I don't think it cured him, but it sure kept other people out of 'germ shot'.

It is a balmy 50º this morning with very dense fog. It may rain some this morning and then clear off. No white Christmas here and I can't say I'm disappointed after the ice/snow storm we had a couple of weeks ago...

I hope Brent's fever is gone this morning. We are having 'Christmas' tomorrow morning for the family members that are close enough to be here. I'm expecting 15 kids/grandkids around 11:00 a.m. for lunch, then we will open presents.

Sunday is church, both morning and evening, and Monday morning our little family, plus one extra grandson, will open gifts, then have Christmas dinner.

The open house will continue through next week so I am looking forward to more visitors. I have at least two coming over this morning, from my Freecycle group. It's nice to be able to visit with, and get to know, them.

Time for coffee,
§ue
